~Kirishima~

Kirishima sat in his room with his head down on his pillow. He knew he should just relax, but he couldn't shake this strange feeling of dread. He felt as though something bad was happening. Really, really bad. He also couldn't help but think it had to do with Bakugo. Could anyone really blame him for being overly worried for his friend?

Suddenly, Kirishima heard a soft knock on his door. He sprang up and went to the door. As he opened it, he was surprised to see the face of his homeroom teacher.

"Aizawa?" Kirishima said in confusion. "What are you doing here?"

"Kirishima, may I come in?" Aizawa asked gravely. "As Bakugo's closest friend, I believe there is something you should know."

"Huh?" Kirishima questioned. "Did something happen? Is he okay?"

"Just take a seat." Aizawa said tersely.

Kirishima sat down on the edge of his bed and Aizawa walked in. The older man took a seat at the chair in front of Kirishima's desk.

"So, uh," Kirishima started nervously. "What was it you needed to tell me?"

"Kirishima, there's no easy way to tell you this but," Aizawa started. "Just earlier today, Bakugo had gone into another coma. We're keeping him supported, but he's in near critical condition."

"What?!" Kirishima yelled. "What happened? Is he okay?"

"I hate to tell you this but...." Aizawa started. "Bakugo attempted to... pull the plug on himself."

"What?!" Kirishima exclaimed. "You mean he tried to..." Kirishima's voice softened as he realized what he was about to say. "Kill himself?"

Aizawa nodded grimly. "I'm sorry you have to hear it like this, it must be hard." He said sympathetically. Kirishima's stare was fixed on the ground, and he bit back tears.

"Is he... gonna be okay?" Kirishima asked softly.

"His chances of waking up are relatively high." Aizawa said.

"But... not certain?" Kirishima questioned.

"I wish I could say we knew for sure what will happen to him," Aizawa said with a sigh, "But I don't think lying to you will help."

"I see." Kirishima said, eyes still trained on the ground, struggling to keep his voice steady. "May I see him?"

"Yes." Aizawa said. "If you would like to visit him you are welcome to do so."

"Thank you." Kirishima said monotonously.

A tense silence engulfed the room for a minute or two, but it felt like an eternity, before Aizawa spoke up again.

"He's strong, you know." Aizawa said. "Bakugo's a stubborn kid, he'll pull through."

Kirishima nodded with a sad smile. "Yeah." He agreed. "Bakugo isn't gonna die any time soon."

"That's right." Aizawa said. "Now, would you like to go visit the problem child?"

"Yes please." Kirishima replied.

"Alright, let's go then." Aizawa said, getting up and gesturing for Kirishima to do the same. Kirishima rose to his feet, feeling his legs shake slightly. He steadied himself, and followed Aizawa out the door.

Moments later, they were walking into Bakugo's room. The first thing Kirishima saw was Bakugo completely out cold on his bed. He was hooked up to countless machines and tubes. His skin was pale and he was sweating as though he had a fever. If Kirishima didn't know better, he'd say Bakugo looked dead. Kirishima watched the boy breathe, noting that his breaths were far too shallow, and his shoulders seemed to shake or twitch here and there, despite being clearly entirely unconscious. Aizawa noticed Kirishima's worried expression, and put a hand on the boy's shoulder reassuringly.

"How long will it take for him to wake up?" Kirishima asked nervously.

"I'm afraid that's a question for Recovery Girl." Aizawa answered honestly. "I really don't know."

"He'll be fine." Kirishima murmured with mock confidence, unsure of if he was talking to Aizawa or himself. "He'll pull through."

Aizawa offered him a reassuring smile, though coming from him it would have come off as almost threatening if Kirishima didn't know better.

"Would you like some alone time?" Aizawa asked. Kirishima nodded in response, eyes still trained on his unconscious friend. Aizawa murmured a goodbye, then exited the room, leaving Kirishima all alone with Bakugo. Kirishima sat down on a small chair near the bed.

"Hey, man." He said, smiling at his friend who he knew couldn't see or hear him. "Don't let this keep you down, you hear me? You're strong. You're Bakugo Katsuki; Future Number One Hero, remember? You can overcome this, I know you can. I hope you know it too. I probably look dumb, talking to someone who can't hear me, huh? Well, I guess that doesn't matter. I know you can't even remember who I am anymore, so it's not like it really matters. If you were awake you'd probably yell at me to leave. Well, I guess you'd do that anyways, right?" Kirishima let out a little chuckle. "Come back to us in one piece, yeah? We love you, Blasty." Kirishima went silent for a moment before adding, "I love you."

Kirishima reached over, and moved some of Bakugo's messy hair away from his eyes. He gently ran his hand through his hair, desperate for a physical reminder that his best friend was still alive and in front of him. The contact soothed him, and he pulled away slowly. He gave one last glance to his sleeping friend, offering a small sad smile, before getting up, and walking out the door.

Kirishima walked a few feet, before turning to his own door, and walking into his dorm room. He threw himself onto his bed, and stared at the white ceiling. He couldn't help feeling responsible for all the pain his explosive friend was going through. If only his rescue plan hadn't failed so miserably, none of this would have happened. If he had done better, his friend would be wide awake, still working hard on perfecting his quirk and aiming for the number one hero spot. Instead, he was unconscious on a bed, hooked up to countless machines, with hardly any idea of who he is or what's happening. It was no wonder he had turned suicidal, he was going through so much, and he was surrounded by so much unfamiliarity. If Kirishima was in his position, he was sure he would react the same, no matter how strong he wants to insist he is. In the end, no matter how strong you are, everyone can break. He realized that now. Nobody was impervious to harm. Not physically, not mentally. The strongest people he ever knew could suffer more than the weakest, or vice versa. Kirishima finally understood that being strong and being invincible are not at all the same.
