~Kirishima~
Kirishima frowned as he walked out of Bakugo's dorm. He had just taken the shaken up boy back to his room, and left to give him some space. He had no idea what set him off like that. To say Kirishima was worried was a gross understatement. He desperately wanted to help his friend, but he had no idea how to. Kirishima sighed, and walked back downstairs. He had known that Bakugo was awake the whole time. The others likely assumed he had a night terror, and that's what shook him up, but Kirishima had seen him wide awake just a few minutes before they had gotten down there. He couldn't have fallen asleep so fast, so that couldn't be what happened. Something someone said must have set him off somehow.
Kirishima made his way down the stairs, and stepped out into the common room. The atmosphere was still rather tense from the earlier events.
"Kirishima, what happened?" Jirou asked, breaking the tense silence. Kirishima sighed.
"I don't know." He said honestly. "He probably had a nightmare." Kirishima knew damn well Bakugo didn't have a nightmare, but he decided that the hothead would rather them think that than anything else.
"Oh." Jirou said. The tense silence returned yet again, until someone else spoke up.
"Is he okay?" Ashido asked, in a tone far too serious for her usual demeanor.
"He'll be fine," Kirishima assured them, unsure of whether he was lying. "He just needs some rest, I think." Ashido nodded in content, but her worried expression didn't change. The chilling silence returned, this time with no one to break it.
After a few minutes of awkwardly sitting in the common room, Kirishima decided to return to his dorm. He made his way up the stairs, and up to his room.
Upon arriving, Kirishima stepped inside his dorm, and locked the door. He went and sat down on his bed, taking out his phone. He was still worried for his friend, but he figured it was probably best to take his mind off things for a little while.
Kirishima idly scrolled through his phone, looking at everything and nothing. He found a couple random things to look at, but nothing of much value. As he was scrolling, he stumbled upon a news article that made his stomach churn.
Hesitantly, Kirishima clicked on it. It was an article about Bakugo. By now, the news that Bakugo had been rescued at long last was public, but no other information was disclosed. Nothing about his condition, what the league did to him, or anything else was ever made public, yet here was this article. The cover photo was of Bakugo's limp, beat up form, lying in a hospital bed. How did they get this photo? Kirishima quickly scanned through the article. The article talked about the public announcement made on Bakugo's successful rescue operation, contained some speculation on what this would mean for the hero in training, and talked about the capturing of some villains, but what really set Kirishima on edge was when the article addressed the photo that they were never meant to have access to in the first place. Under the image, was a caption.
"Photograph of Bakugo Katsuki's condition in Yokohama City Hospital taken by an anonymous journalist"
Anger bubbled in Kirishima's heart. Whoever this "anonymous journalist" was, they had absolutely no right to be there, much less take a picture and share it to the whole world! Kirishima sighed, and continued reading the article, knowing his hotheaded friend wouldn't be too pleased about this.
"As seen in the above image, young Bakugo Katsuki's condition after the rescue operation was rather bad. He is clearly sporting many scars, bruises, and broken bones, despite the work of skilled doctors, as well as U.A High's very own Recovery Girl.
Due to the bandages covering much of his neck, legs, upper arms, and torso, we can't see the full extent of his injuries, but the damage is still quite apparent.
According to his medical records, his main injuries include; three broken ribs, moderate damage to the trachea, malnutrition, complete shattering of the bones in the left leg, and deep lacerations all over, primarily on the upper body."
Kirishima glared at his phone in disgust. These people even got their hands on Bakugo's medical records? Kirishima was absolutely appalled, but continued reading.
"Unfortunately, we do not yet have any definitive knowledge of exactly what occurred during his time with the self proclaimed "League of Villains", but given the horrific damage done to this child, it is absolutely no stretch to assume nothing less than extreme torture. Of the boy's current condition, it seems he is out of the hospital and has been brought back to the dormitory buildings of U.A High. Unfortunately, due to the Academy's closed off nature, it has proved difficult to learn much more; however, we do have reason to believe he is still in a hospitalized condition, given the fact that those who saw him exiting the building with pro hero Eraserhead, that he is no less hooked up to machines than he was while unconscious.
We unfortunately also do not know what is to become of the hero-in-training. It is unknown if he will be able to continue his studies at U.A, or if he will be sent home. All we can do is hope that the boy can make a full recovery."
Kirishima felt sick to his stomach. Now he understood why Aizawa detested the media so much. Here were all these reporters, writing about information they have absolutely no right to possess, and are pretending to care about Bakugo just for clout! With one last foul look, Kirishima turned off his phone and threw it onto his bed, before laying down himself.
After lying for a handful of minutes, doing nothing more than staring idly at the ceiling, Kirishima decided to get up. It's not like he could fall asleep given the time of day coupled with his worry for his friend. Standing up, Kirishima debated going to Bakugo's dorm to check up on him, but decided against it, assuming Bakugo would be happier if given space at the moment. Oh, how beautifully wrong he was.
~Bakugo~
Bakugo lay in his bed, staring up at the ceiling. He had grown accustomed to it during the time the league spent torturing him, but he was still acutely aware of the throbbing ache throughout his body. The doctor's work may have fixed up cuts, broken bones, and bruises for the most part, but they couldn't do everything. Mainly, they couldn't do anything about his weight. Bakugo was still being fed through a tube, and was horrifically thin. The bed he was in has six blankets, but he was still freezing. It was like he couldn't get an ounce of warmth in his body no matter how hard he tried. He wasn't hungry, though, and the idea of eating sickened him by now.
Bakugo let out a bitter chuckle, though it was more of a coarse breath. He really got himself fucked over. Bakugo couldn't help but wonder when the League will show back up and resume torturing him. Bakugo was absolutely certain that the people he was with weren't heroes, his classmates, or his teachers. They were all working with the League. They fabricated those photos, and got their best actors to make it seem as though they cared for him. All that work to try and give him a small taste of hope just so it'll hurt even more when they crush him back down into despair. Bakugo felt small tears prick at the edge of his vision, and clamped his eyes shut. He didn't want to go back. He didn't want the league to take him away again. He didn't want to be hurt anymore. He couldn't take it. He was so fucking scared, he didnt know what to do. Bakugo felt more unwanted tears peeking out of his eyes. Bakugo started to shake unwillingly. He didn't want to go back to them. He had no clue when they'd show up and hurt him in new ways that he couldn't even imagine. Bakugo's shaking and crying became even more violent, and the bed began to shift and creak.
Suddenly, amidst Bakugo's shaking, one of the drips in his arm fell out. All his panicked movements seemed to have dislodged it. Bakugo froze momentarily. His breathing was still beyond erratic and tears were still streaming down his face, but he suddenly had a thought. Soon the league would come. Soon they'd come right back and do things to Bakugo so bad he can't even fathom the pain he'll be in. There will be no warning. That means there's only one thing he can do to make sure they can never hurt him again.
Ever so slowly, Bakugo started pulling out drips from his arms. He dislodged every last thing he could. Soon, the only thing left in him was the feeding tube. He gave it a tug. It didnt budge, but it did cause a feeling of real discomfort throughout his nose, throat, and stomach. Bakugo decided to leave that one there. Without all the other support drips he should finally be free from the villains. With that thought in his head, Bakugo slipped into unconsciousness, praying for a painless death.
