~Bakugo~
Bakugo's stomach growled. He wasn't sure how long it's been since he last ate. All he could think about now was the pain in his gut. Was this really how he wanted to go? It was so, so painful. But... maybe there's a better way. He didn't want to do it like this, but surely it must be better than slowly starving to death. So, ever so slowly, shaking from using his weakened muscles, Bakugo pushed his head forwards, pushing his throat into the metal band. He'll just choke himself out.
Bakugo pushed harder against the metal, and felt himself lose the ability to draw breath. He felt his face heat up and start to go numb. He could feel his weak heartbeat throughout his body. Slowly, he began to close his eyes, letting unconsciousness take him over.
Just as he was about to crawl his way through Death's ever welcoming door, Bakugo felt hands on his shoulders push him against the wall, away from the band, and away from his sweet freedom. The damn league... Why would they stop him? Surely they had no reason to prevent his death. Maybe they just want to see him suffer. Bakugo struggled weakly against the villain's hands, trying to finish the job, but they kept holding him to the wall. Bakugo still didn't breathe. He knew if he fell unconscious just from holding his breath he wouldn't die but if he could just get back to the band... just then, whoever was pinning him to the wall let go with one hand. Bakugo took the opportunity to try to force his way forwards again, but his muscles were too weakened from who knows how long of not using them. That's when Bakugo felt it. The person's hand was going on top of his head. Bakugo felt them start fiddling with the blindfold. Was the league going to let him get his senses back? Did they decide he wouldn't crack and opted to try something new? Or were they ready to kill him now? Bakugo stiffened as the blindfold was ripped off of him. Bakugo squeezed his eyes shut as he was met with an absolutely blinding light. Or maybe it was just from so long of not seeing anything. Bakugo would've gasped, but he was still committed to holding his breath. He could feel himself fading out of consciousness, but he still tried to slowly open his eyes, as the earphones were also ripped from his head. Bakugo's ears were met with a loud noise. He instinctively tried to cover his ears with his hands, but only managed to jerk his arms slightly due to the chains. The sounds he heard... sounded like fighting? There was yelling, and crashing and so many overwhelming sounds. It was almost too much for him but nonetheless, he fought to open his eyes against the brightness. Finally, he was able to see again. His vision was fading in and out. He was about to pass out. All he could see in front of him was a pair of teary, worried looking red eyes staring right at him. He only had one thought before he went under.
That doesn't look like a villain...
~Kirishima~
Kirishima alongside some of his classmates and many pro heroes burst through the door. They had finally found Bakugo after eight months of searching. Kirishima could only imagine what his friend must have gone through. Rushing through the doorway, Kirishima saw the room properly. It was a small dimly lit square room. The walls and floor were both smooth gray concrete, and it was empty. Empty except for one person. Against the back wall, there was a single figure. He was sitting on the floor with his legs shackled down and his arms chained up above his head. He had a metal band around his neck, and he had a blindfold and a pair of headphones on. He wore no shirt and he was clearly covered from head to toe in bruises, scars, burns, and cuts. He appeared to have many broken bones, too. Most concerning of all was his weight. No human alive should look that thin. He looked as though a single gust of wind could snap him in half. He didn't seem to acknowledge their presence, likely the work of the headphones and blindfold. He had spiky ash blonde hair that was covered in blood and dust. No mistaking it, that boy was Katsuki Bakugo.
Kirishima and the others approached the boy. At first, Kirishima thought he was unconscious, but as he drew nearer, he noticed something. The boy's thin head and neck were bright red and seemed to be shaking uncontrollably. Bakugo was leaning forwards. Too far forwards. That's when Kirishima finally understood what he was doing. Katsuki Bakugo was choking himself out.
Kirishima rushed towards his friend, and pushed him away from the metal band. He visibly flinched at the action, but almost immediately started to resist, pushing against Kirishima's hands. Was Bakugo really trying to off himself? Kirishima started to tear up slightly as he removed one of his arms. Bakugo started to struggle slightly more, but Kirishima noticed just how weak his movements were. As though he hadn't moved in months... Kirishima started to work the blindfold off of his friend, who abruptly stopped struggling, but was notably not breathing. He felt Bakugo stiffen as he pulled the blindfold off. Just then, the door burst open again, and villains came flooding in. Immediately, fighting broke out. Kirishima was about to jump into action when Eraserhead called out to him.
"Red Riot!' He yelled. "Focus on getting Bakugo out, we'll cover you!" Kirishima nodded, and got back to work on Bakugo, who still wasn't breathing. He ripped the headphones off of him, and Bakugo violently flinched, jerking his chained up arms. Bakugo slowly opened his eyes, and Kirishima paused. Bakugo looked right into Kirishima's eyes, and a small look of hope flickered into his eyes, before they closed, and he went limp. Kirishima realized that his friend just knocked himself out, as Bakugo started to breathe again. Kirishima wasted no time on hardening his hand, and breaking off the shackles on Bakugo's thin legs. Kirishima stood up, and broke the shackles on his arms, too. Bakugo's arms fell down to his sides. Kirishima then crouched down, and examined the band securing Bakugo's neck to the wall. He had to break it off without hurting his friend. He figured his best shot was to hit the base of the loop on either side where it connected to the wall. Kirishima gently shifted Bakugo forwards, trying not to restrict his breathing when he put him up against the band. Kirishima hit the base of the band on either side, with barely enough space to not hit Bakugo's neck. The metal loop fell into Bakugo's lap, and Bakugo himself slumped over to the side, hitting the concrete. Swiftly, Kirishima unhardened his hand, and scooped Bakugo up in his arms.
"I got him, let's go!" Kirishima yelled out. The heroes turned to see Kirishima with Bakugo's limp, stick-like body in his arms. The heroes immediately flanked Kirishima and they began to make a run for it. Kirishima felt bad knowing he wouldn't be fighting while other heroes were, but he knew someone had to carry his friend, and that it was still manly to protect, rather than attack. The heroes stormed out of the room, and through the hall. The villains, of course, made chase, and the fighting was brutal. Heroes and villains alike were dropping like flies, with Kirishima at the heart of it all, untouched. He just kept running. Bakugo's limp body didn't slow him down much. He was so light. That was extremely worrying but Kirhshima shook it off. He knew that just this once, he had to stop worrying, and push forwards.
After running through the halls making too many twists and turns, the door was within their sights. Too many valuable heroes had fallen by now, but they kept going. They had to make sure this wasn't in vain. Kirishima and the other heroes finally burst through the last door, out into the sunlight, where reinforcements and police were waiting. They quickly rounded up the villains that stepped out, as the others warped away. Quickly, they went up to where Recovery Girl and the paramedics stood, and they put Bakugo onto a stretcher, and brought him into an ambulance. Many other people entered the ambulances, and they were quickly whisked away. Kirishima watched as the ambulances drove away and out of sight, as Aizawa came up behind him and put a hand on his shoulder.
"You did well, kid." He said. He was visibly bruised and bloodied, but he could stand. Kirishima smiled grimly.
"Is he gonna be okay?" He asked. Aizawa was quiet for a moment.
"I'm sure he'll be fine." He said. "He was conscious when we arrived wasn't he? What happened?" Kirishima looked down, biting his lip.
"He..." Kirishima trailed off, and teared up again. "He... He tried to... choke himself out..." Aizawa clearly tried to hide it, but Kirishima could tell he was both shocked and worried.
"He... tried to kill himself?" Aizawa pressed, sounding more and more worried with every word. Kirishima gave a painfully slow nod.
"Sure looked like it..." He responded sadly. "He... probably couldn't take any more of whatever the league was doing to him..." Kirishima fully broke down into tears. Aizawa pulled him into a gentle hug, and patted his back.
"It'll be okay," He said reassuringly. "Bakugo's safe now." Kirishima nodded grimly.
"Yeah. At least he's safe..."
