I wake up, brush my teeth, take a shower, and cleanse my face with some new products I recently bought.
"Good morning," Mom says with a smile. She probably notices my fresh look.
"Good morning," I smile back. Today feels like it could be a good day—I want to be happy and nothing else.
"You smell amazing. Is that a new shower gel?" she asks.
"Yeah, do you like it?" I reply, starting to eat the breakfast she prepared.
"Perfect," she mumbles approvingly.
"Great," I say, focused on my food.
I say goodbye to Dad before he leaves for work. We haven't talked much lately—he's been so busy.
Back in my room, I check what to wear tonight. I pick a red dress.
"Will it be boring? Or extraordinary?" I mutter, eyeing the dress one last time before putting it back in the wardrobe.
My phone rings. Oh my God—Kyle!
"Hey," I say, my breath catching nervously.
"I miss you," he says quietly. I want to kiss him just hearing his voice.
"Me too. What are you doing?"
"Still in bed."
"I can tell."
"Can't wait to see you."
"Really?" Excitement rushes through me.
"Yes. Hope you feel the same."
"Yeah. I do." My voice trembles a bit.
"So, can I pick you up in an hour?"
Wait—no way!
"An hour? I thought it would be tonight."
"I can't."
"Can't what?"
"I can't wait till tonight. Twy, I want to see you now."
"I haven't even decided what to wear." I admit. "I'm not ready."
"I'll buy you something. I want to choose your outfit tonight—accessories too. Can I?"
"Okay." I don't know how I agreed. The thought of trying on clothes with him feels intimidating.
I put on a hoodie and jeans to keep it casual for now.
I add pink lipstick and some blush.
I tell Mom and Dad that Kyle will pick me up in an hour. Thankfully, they don't mind.
"Hey," I say as I sit beside him in the car.
He just stares into my eyes.
"Hey," I wave my hand in front of his face.
"You look pretty. The prettiest girl I've ever seen," he says, eyes locked on mine. I blush—how am I pretty in this hoodie?
"I'm not sure I'm the prettiest girl in a hoodie," I tease.
"You are! You know what?"
"What?"
"I need to kiss you so badly."
"What!" I blush even more. I wasn't expecting that.
"Then you have to wait."
"I know!" he mutters, starting the car.
I don't say much—thank God.
He stops at an expensive store. I expected that. I hate that he spends so much on me, even if we're engaged now.
"Look, I don't wear revealing clothes," I warn.
He chuckles.
"That's not funny," I roll my eyes.
"Who said I'd choose revealing clothes?" he mocks.
"Just saying," I shrug.
"I love you," he whispers in my ear.
Oh my God, I can't help myself.
"Show us some dresses," he says as a sales guy approaches. He has so many tattoos.
"What do you think?" the salesman holds up a very short tight purple dress.
"No," Kyle shakes his head. I want to laugh—he knows me well.
"What about this one?" the salesman shows a long rose dress with a deep V cut.
"Okay, I'll try it," I say as Kyle waits silently. I don't want to try on too many.
The guy shows me to the fitting room.
I try it on but can't zip it up myself. Oh my God. Should I take it off?
"Kyle!" I whisper behind the door.
"Yes, baby?" he whispers back.
"Can you close your eyes?" I ask. So embarrassing—and I don't trust him.
"Sure," he says quickly. Of course I don't trust him.
"I can't zip it."
Kyle opens the fitting room door and slips inside.
"Are you crazy?" I push him against the door, placing my hands over his eyes.
"You're going to be my wife. Stop it," he laughs.
"I'll call the guy to throw you out."
"You can't," he puts his hands over mine, but doesn't move them.
"Close the zipper."
"Okay," he whispers, teasingly touching me.
"Kyle, stop it!" I snap.
"Okay, fine," he smirks.
"Such a bad boy," I say when he finally zips it up. I can't believe this is happening. I'm the silly one.
The dress makes me look feminine. I love it.
"You look more than gorgeous," he says.
"Really?"
"Yup. So hot." He wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me close.
