renga oneshots % SK8 THE INFINITY

race in town // au

au: reki and langa (and most of the others) haven't met yet

(i actually wrote this for an english homework and then turned it into a renga sorry it's shitty) 😭

an announcement coming from twitter said that a skateboarding race was going to be arranged in town, and reki was going to use this chance to show people how much he had practiced. such a lovely coincidence that they arranged a skate race as soon as he nailed a new move! it honestly felt like someone was spying on him but that didn't really matter, all that mattered was getting ready for that beef. who knows what kind of skaters will participate?

as the days went on and on, the beef that was normally a week away, was suddenly... the next day.

by the time reki arrived at the place, there were already 2 skaters there. which means 2 more will come afterwards as he was told that there were 5 participants in total.

the time, 19:42.
3 minutes until the race starts.

everyone was already there and were doing some stretching. the crowd that was going to watch them was getting bigger. how about reki? he was just excited. not really nervous. sure, the competitors looked professional and all but if he could just do his best and have fun, he would be happy.

as he waited at the starting line in the last remaining minute, he took some time to examine the other skaters. the person on his right had ice blue hair and eyes that seemed as deep and beautiful as an ocean. his expression looked... emotionless but passionate, however that's possible.

the others were on his left side, and the closest one was an extremely muscular man. he looked like he was showing them off and it seemed like a couple of girls in the crowd were screaming. despite that, he sure did have a handsome face and cool hair.

the one on the muscular man's left was a short boy. he had... a tail? oh, a cat costume. reki had to admit it suited him and he looked pretty cool. he got caught while staring at the boy's face that looked serious and determined. it felt as if a cat just showed him an ugly expression showing that it hates him.

and the one on the further left was another guy. the way he looked at mr.muscles was indeed interesting. were they enemies? even if reki couldn't completely answer that, it was obvious they knew each other.

last 3. 2. 1.

everyone quickly got on their boards and tried to be the lead, as well as reki. not so long after, the only person ahead of him was the cat-boy. still, all of them were so good and the order could change any second.

as everyone skated through dangerous grounds and places like cliffs and huge downhills, a loud noise attracted reki's attention. a large "bam" along with the person who has blue hair -which reki heard his name was langa- falling from the edge off a cliff. a cliff that head to a sandy area down below, that was really hard to get away from. he could severely injure himself.

reki glanced at the others who were smirking. they were probably happy that they lost a rival to deal with. but for some reason reki wasn't happy. and at this point he knew he wouldn't be happy nor even comfortable if he won the race leaving him there.

so, he decreased his speed. he felt like he didn't have a choice. as much as he loved being kind-hearted, he also hated it sometimes. but this was just his personality. he went a little back to where langa fell down. reki could hear the little aching sounds. sounds of pain. he rushed down the cliff with his skateboard. when langa saw someone coming down for him, the spark of hope and happiness he gained was visible on his pale face. soon, his expression which was filled with pain, turned into a grateful smile. reki felt himself just getting serotonin from that smile. it was so beautiful.

he picked langa up and carried him bridal-style because there was a big possibility that he had broken his leg. while all this, the race was already over and the crowd + the skaters were watching them from the cameras.

reki, while still carrying his new friend langa, skated to the finish line and was congratulated by everyone. langa tilted his head to take a look at him, and realized that reki was already looking him. as they both blushed out of embarrassment, they turned their heads but soon tilted them back and stared into each other's glowing eyes.
