Although it took time before the blood transfusion happened, I was still beyond grateful that he donated his blood to Jeda. Nakitaan kasi ng alcohol si Zahir sa dugo after the blood test and other toxins. It needed to be eliminated before he could transfuse blood.
"Can we talk?" Wanting to thank him for saving Jeda, I obliged to his request. We elevated on top of the hospital. Strong wind hastily welcomed us.
Hinarap ko siya. "Salamat nga pala sa pag-donate ng dugo. Thank for saving Jeda," I expressed my gratitude wholeheartedly.
He looked down and softly kicked the wall. Hands bulged on his pockets.
"Bakit kami magka-match?" he asked and turned to me. There was hope and so the doubt lurking in his eyes.
"Hindi ko alam," I replied with a shrug, innocent about what he wanted to imply. "Nagkataon lang na match kayo."
"Nagkataon?" He scoffed. Tumingin siya sa kalangitan. His jaw was pulsing.
I contracted my brows. I asked mockingly.
"Why not?" He stared at me and strongly he claimed,"I demand a DNA test."
"Zahir, you're just wasting your time, money, and effort! Jeda is not your daughter!" I argued. This was freakingly stressing me out!
"How so sure are you that she's not mine?!" he fired away.
"And what made you think na anak mo siya?" I fired back.
"Dahil posible! It's been fucking three years and she's turning two, Maco. Bago ka umalis may nangyari sa atin!"
"It's impossible, Zahir! Imposible na anak mo siya."
"Why not?! Explain to me. Sabihin mo sakin kung bakit imposible, Maco. Convince me so I'd stop thinking the possibility—"
We should be hiding this from everyone until Jeda was old enough to understand things.
"Why are you calling her your daughter, then?" naguguluhan niyang tanong.
I blew an air from my lungs. "Anak ko siya. Para sa akin, anak ko siya."
Nang-uuyam siyang ngumiti. "Convince me better, Maco. Paano ako maniniwala sa'yo?"
Nainis ako sa narinig. "Pwede ba? Stop making me feel na sinungaling ako.
At si Jeda ang manika?" he mocked at that. "Tell me the truth that will make me believe. Hindi ako naniniwala."
"Pamangkin ko siya, okay? Her biological mother is my half-sister. She's a rebellious daughter. She wanted to abort the baby after knowing my past relationship with him but we're able to stop her. I promised myself that I'll be Jeda's growing mother. Na pupunuin ko siya ng pagmamahal more than what a mother will give her.
