"Sorry about Redwing," Bucky said.

"No, you're not," Sam was quick to disagree. He knew the man would have done it himself if he had the chance. He was close to grabbing it earlier, after all.

The two trucks were out of sight, leaving them by themselves. No longer being on a moving one made them realize the peaceful atmosphere of Munich. The sun shined behind white clouds, green surrounded them in the forms of trees and grassland, and seeds began to sprout from fresh soil. It truly felt like spring was in the air.

Glancing at the man beside him, Sam could tell his mind wasn't present. "What's going on in that big cyborg brain of yours?"

"It's computing."

Sam let out a laugh in response. "You know what? I can actually see it. I can see the gears turning." He twirled his two pointer fingers to mimic moving gears. "Oh, they're malfunctioning, shutting down." He slowed his spinning fingers before stopping them completely. "Yep, they're on fire."

"Only because Maria isn't here." His face could be read that he regretted saying those words out loud, and he mentally smacked himself for it. He didn't have to look to know the man walking alongside him was smiling like an idiot. He dreaded to hear what he had to say.

In a sing-song voice, Sam asked, "Ooh, really?"

And there he goes...

He did his best not to roll his eyes and to keep a neutral look on his face. "Well, we did leave her with a bunch of super soldiers and what's-his-face."

Sam scoffed at the name he gave Walker. "Not on purpose."

"Better hope she's okay, all I'm gonna say."

Bucky caught a glimpse of her capabilities, something he wasn't aware of. He knew she had to be magic if she was able to heal him. While telekinesis isn't uncommon, her performance was unique enough that it replayed in his mind.

It's obvious Maria is capable of taking care of herself. The big question was: how long could she keep herself up? Especially if she had no previous experience with super soldiers that he knew of.

The bionic-armed man decided to change the subject before Sam could tease him any further. "We also gotta figure out where the serum's coming from."

Sam knew he did that on purpose. He took the hint, though, and grew serious. "Yeah. And how in the hell after eighty years are there eight super soldiers runnin' loose?"

Behind them, a hand smacking against a metal sheet twice could be heard, followed by, "Oye, ¡chicos!"

Bucky recognized that voice. It was her voice, and it was surprisingly upbeat.

Maria, Walker, and Hoskins sat in the back of a military jeep. She had a whole bench to herself while the other two sat opposite her, the shield being the only thing separating them.

He was surprised she was still sporting the sugar skull, having assumed it would have been gone by now. It didn't leave much to hide her identity, unlike the black masks of the Flag Smashers, but it did draw attention.

"So, that didn't go as planned, huh?" Walker asked to ease up the tension, the vehicle coming to a stop. He opened the door to invite them in, only to have his gesture ignored as the two continued. "Okay..." Going to close it, he was stopped when Maria moved his arm and hopped off.

She joined the walkers by placing herself in between them. "Oh no, I'm fine. Yeah, no, thanks for asking." Her voice was high and sarcastic, her hands animated in movement. Her arms stilled by her sides, and she dropped her voice to a lower and offended tone, "I appreciate your concern."
