*Beep! Beep! Beep!*My alarm clock went off at 6 am because I had to be at work by 7:15. I normally don't work during the morning shift at the trendy little diner in downtown San Francisco, but this Saturday I was working overtime for extra money. Forcing myself upright, I went into my bathroom and quickly undressed, stepping into the shower and turning it on to wake me up. My boss is really laid-back and knows I'm a student, so he said if I can come in for a few hours on the weekends, I'll get extra pay. I proceeded to wash my whole body and hair, letting the soothing water run down my body. When I was finished, I shut it off and grabbed my towel, wrapping it around my body.
I stepped into the living room on my way to the kitchen. I was startled to see Myles on the couch, since I was in nothing but a towel, but I remembered it was ass ear,y in the morning and he was dead asleep. Myles doesn't work on Saturdays, so he sleeps in as much as he can. He works longer hours than I do at our local auto body shop around the corner from our apartment, so he usually sleeps in between school and work hours. But now that we're on summer vacation, all this boy does is sleep.
I smiled and quietly tip-toed past him into the kitchen to eat. I scanned the fridge and settled on some Greek yogurt and strawberries. After I ate, I headed back to my room to get dressed. I selected a simple burgundy and white baseball tee, black rolled-up jeans, and slip-on white vans. I threw my hair up in a messy bun, and went to my vanity. I applied minimal makeup; some powder, concealer, and mascara. I don't wear foundation because it clogs my pores and I breakout, it's not pretty. After I swiped some chapstick on my lips, I grabbed my smock, my phone, and my keys, and headed out the door.
-------------later that morning------------I couldn't focus on anything at work today once I remembered Myles had his date with Stella tonight. They barley met 2 weeks ago and they're going on a date and talking like they've known each other forever. I've known myles forever, not her. I tried my best, however, to set not let it bother me. It was just my best friend jealousy kicking in, right?
----------later that night-----------
I was laying on my bed on my Mac looking at some courses for when school started back up again this fall when I heard the door open. Myles was back from his date. I guess I should be a good best friend and ask him how it went, so I did just that. I sighed and left my room. "Hey. How'd it go?" I leaned up against the doorframe in the living room, pretending to care. "Oh my God Lana. I'm really into Stella." His eyes lit up once again at the mention of her name. "We're going out again in a couple of days." He beamed. I didn't know what to do say, so I just smiled. I'm surprised he didn't notice how fake it was.
I walked back to my room with out another word. I shut my door harder than I expected. A sudden mixture of anger and sadness burned in my chest and my stomach. It was unfamiliar because I never really get that mad at Myles. But this was a different kind of mad. What was it called again? Jealousy. I was jealous of Myles and Stella together.
