The sunlight poured in through the open curtains on the large bay window of my room this Saturday morning. I let the warmth of the sun's rays wash over my face before I fully opened my eyes to a new day. I laid in the quietness and comfort of my bed for another couple of minutes before rolling over and checking my phone. I had a couple of texts and notifications here and there. Yawning, I got up and went to my bathroom to turn on the shower and start getting ready for this day.

One thing about me is no matter how hot it is outside, I will always take a hot shower. I find the steam and the burning sensation of the water on my skin relaxing.

I let the water run down my body for a little while before lathering my hair and skin with soap and shaved my legs thoroughly. I rinsed off and quickly dried off, wrapping the towel around my body. I put some products in my hair and let it air dry. I decided to leave it curly today.

Walking over to my closet, I opened the door and scanned the rack for something to wear. The temperature was supposed to be warm today, so I decided on a thin cream colored romper with cuffed sleeves and brown strap sandals. I sat on the very top of my toilet and polished my toes nude pink since I was wearing sandals. I put on my clothes and put on my usual scarce amount of makeup, putting emphasis on my eyelashes. I thought about how Kalin used to always compliment my long eyelashes. I decided to be a little bit bold and did my eyeliner. My eyebrows are naturally thick so I don't need to fill them in. I walked back to my bathroom and looked in my full length mirror before I left. I was pleased with my appearance, and headed to the kitchen for a light breakfast.

When I went outside ready to leave, I noticed Myles' car wasn't there. He must have had work today, I thought. I pulled out of my apartment complex's parking lot and sped down the road. Before I met up with Kalin for dinner, I had a couple of hours to kill, so I decided to run many needed for errands for Myles and myself.

---------

I was pulling out of the Safeway parking lot when I got a phone call from Kalin. He was leaving his house and said he wanted to pick me up. I explained I was going to drive there but he insisted on taking me to wherever it is we were going. I agreed to go home and wait for him there.

-----------
I was only in my apartment for like 5 minutes before I heard a knock at my door and I started getting nervous. I checked myself in the mirror in the hallway before I answered the door to a smiling Kalin.

"Hi Alana." He smiled down to me, nearly a foot below him.

"Hey." I smiled awkwardly.

"You look great." He looked me up and down, and then at my face.

"Thank you, so do you." I bit my lip and looked at the ground.

"Let's get going?" He said, but it came out more as a question.

"Yeah sure." I tried to be as chill as possible.

We got to his car and he wedged himself in front of me to open the passenger side door for me before returning to his side and getting in.

-----------

"So you remember that time when we all went swimming in the canyon and I you dared me to jump of the little cliff?" I said in between short laughs.

" Oh yeah and you scraped your leg really bad!" Kalin said and began laughing hysterically.

"It really hurt that's not funny!" I narrowed my eyes at him.

"But did you die though?" He smirked at me and I rolled my eyes and playfully kicked him under the table.

Kalin took us to a hole-in-the-wall sushi restaurant on the upper-east side of San Francisco. We had ordered our food and a few drinks here and there, and eventually engaged in a comfortable conversation. We talked about everything from school to life at home to Myles to work and just about everything that has happened in the past year and half since we last talked.

I looked up after laughing along with him at his eyes, reminiscing the fun memories we had. Man, those were some of the best times of my life. He was such an adventurous spirit and he always wanted to go new places and try new things. He would always take me somewhere new, even if it was something as simple as the park, and just talk about life and everything that is good and bad in the world. He opened my eyes to the world and made me step out of my comfort zone multiple times. It gave me such a rush. He gave me such a rush.

I just sat there staring at him, watching his eyes light up as he talked about God knows what and couldn't help but smile,

"Why are you smiling?" Kalin stopped talking and chuckled.

"Listening to you talk about things with such a passion, it's, I don't know what. It's nice to see you again Kalin." I smiled and looked at him before he quickly looked at his lap as I looked at my hands.

Realizing I made the conversation a little awkward I looked at the menu, and I felt my face getting hot which meant I was blushing really hard. I felt Kalin look up at me as he hooked a finger on the top of my menu and tugged down, revealing my red face. I couldn't help it so I just looked up at him too.

"You were always so cute when you blushed." He said like it was nothing. But it sure made me blush harder.
-----------

"Thank you again for lunch Kalin. I had a good time." I said as we got to the doorstep of my apartment. I could feel the drinks that I had start to set in.

"Any time." He smiled down at me.

We were a couple inches apart and I could smell his min gum mixing with the smell of whatever alcohol he drank tonight. He looked down into my eyes and licked his lips. I felt my body tense because of how close he was to me. Without so much as a second though I pressed my lips to his, taking him by surprise.
He didn't pull away, in fact, he kissed me back harder. I felt one hand press the the back of my neck, and the other on my lower back, doing everything in his power to deepen the kiss. I didn't care anymore. I didn't care at all. Tonight, I needed a break from my life. from the stress over Myles to the stress about work. If it works for Myles to solve his problems maybe it will work for me too.
I pulled away from him after a couple minute to unlock the door. We both walked in to an empty apartment. it was odd that Myles wasn't here, but I shrugged it off, because I wasn't thinking about him tonight.
I led Kalin down the hall to my bedroom and turned on the lamp on my night stand instead of the light switch on the wall. I turned to Kalin as he placed his hands on my hips. He looked in to my eyes, making sure I knew what I was doing, and I wanted to. I nodded to reassure him.
He softly put his lips to mine, then to my chin, to my neck, to my collarbone. It's been forever since I've felt his lips, and it felt amazing. His soft kisses were to die for. There was so many things rushing through my mind, but I set them aside because I didn't wanna think about it. I wanted to be like Myles and let the sex take away my problems.

So that's exactly what I did for hours on end, until neither of us could handle it any longer. I let Kalin do whatever he wanted, and to be honest, I enjoyed every bit of it.
