"Did she leave?"

"Yes."

"How long will it take her to arrive?"

"I don't know."

"Is she even gonna come?"

"Of course."

"Is she here yet?"

"No."

"I think she's gonna ditch you. And in that case, I should probably go to sleep in my bed. Shall I?"

"She's not a ditcher."

"Um...." Now that I was finally out of my words, I still decided to keep my tongue busy in drinking water, which by the way must've been added up to a gallons now. I was nervous, not afraid this time but I consider this night as one hell of a turning point for Daniel.

"I'm here, you don't need to think too much. Just speak your heart out." Caleb assures me with his hand on mine.

"What if she doesn't understand me?"

He takes his eyes from the phone to me. "I don't expect anything from her at this point. If this fails, I have something else for tomorrow as I told you. We're trying our best."

"And you think Nathan is not gonna check the papers that decide his future and his daughter's fortune?"

"We live in the same house. I'll handle it."

I leave a deep sigh knowing that whatever happens today shouldn't affect what Caleb has for tomorrow, or worse what Nathan has for all of us. I don't even wanna think about it.

As I was lost in my thoughts, a ping on Caleb's phone drew my attention. Since he was sitting right beside me, I looked at the screen and caught a message notification from Daniel with the words 'Landed here. Will text you later.' on it. So he took care of that too as he said.

"Where is Daniel?" Before he could answer, the main door of the restaurant caught his attention and he gave a smile. But I'm sure the person he was smiling at must be frowning on seeing me. I turned to look at a surprised Emily steadily approaching towards our table.

"What's this?" She demanded throwing her purse on the table.

"Em, calm down. I brought her here to talk. Just sit down and listen to me."

She smirked before caressing her hair looking at me as if I was a housefly she was waiting to crush for a long time. "Listen to you?"

"Please, sit!" She started to leave after Caleb requested her to do the opposite, but he got her holding onto her arms.

"Can you just listen to me for once and not act like a little brat?"

"How dare you say that?" The look she threw me peirced like daggers, he better not anger her more. Hopefully she's brought her meds with her.

"Lorraine just wants to talk to you, what's your problem? She's not the one who carries around a gun all the time." He said and I was sensing realisation on her face.

"You know how I feel about this and yet you're persuading me to sit with the woman who stole the most precious thing to me?"

"Emily, please! Listen to me for once. I've always given in to all your tantrums. Just once, listen to me and sit down. Talk to Lorraine."

Emily still has the frown on her face but when she leaves a breath looking down, I knew she'd listen to her brother and that made me happy. She pulled herself out of Caleb's grip before pulling a chair to sit in front of his. Caleb gives me a small smile before coming to sit beside me.
