THALIA POV:
TODAY is the day I am to move in with the Cuthberts. According to the letter they sent, they are a family of three: one woman, one man, and a girl. I have never been picked to join a household before, this would be my first. It was a rainy day as I sat outside on the bench. The man, named Matthew, was to fetch me and take me to their home. The rain travelled to the ground before me, it was absolutely mesmerizing. I've never seen such a thing before because I was always trapped inside a room with no windows.
I heard the neighing of a horse approaching. Turning my head, I layed eyes on a rather old man.
"You must be Thalia, I'm Matthew, I'm here to take you home."
"Lovely," I sat beside him, and we made our way to what he called "Green Gables."

THE SUN set as we approached the house. Matthew took me in, both of us being drenched.
"I'll go get us some rags to dry ourselves off," He nodded to himself quirkily and left. The house looked better than I thought it would, I didn't have rather well standards mostly because living in a poor orphanage didn't really-
"Oh, you've finally arrived! I'm Marilla, Anne is still upstairs in her room. I'll go get her so she can introduce herself." The women then frantically went upstairs. Once again I was left alone.
A few minutes pass by, Matthew has gotten the towels and I warmed up. Footsteps are heard and get closer and closer.
"Marilla you've adopted another girl?!" She sprinted and gave me a hug. "Hi, I'm Anne, it's such a great pleasure to meet you! I love your hair, it's so beautiful! Oh, I wish my hair looked like that. Ive actually tried to make it look like thatbut it backfired and I had to chop it all off, as you can see." She rambled on and on but it was rather comforting. Back at the orphanage, we were rarely allowed to talk. "Only speak when spoken to," they'd say.
"We thought you'd like having someone your age live with us and help you with things we aren't able to." Marilla chimed in.
"Thank you so much Matthew and Marilla! That was so sweet of you!" The red-head gave a big smile at them before taking my hand and pulling me upstairs. "I must show you our room, there's only one bed at the moment but Im sure they'll purchase a new one soon enough!"
Hours passed by as I told her about my life at the orphanage. We both seemed to have similar lives. I told her about the abusiveness of the staff which she said she went through too, Anne made up an imaginary friend to help her through it all.
"I think it's about time we sleep, Marilla's making me go to school tomorrow. Would you like to go? She wouldn't force you to, seeing you just got here-"
"That'd be great actually." I quietly interrupted. She gave a quick nod and a smile and pulled the covers over both of us.
