DAYS HAVE PASSED since Thalia's first day at the Cuthbert's house. She had learned many things about them that were definitely going to be useful in the future. For example, Marilla is the strict one so always go to Matthew first if you want something.
"Thalia! Wake up! Today we're working on the play, c'mon!" Anne shook her adopted sister awake impatiently.
"Alright, alright. Let me get ready first." Thalia groaned. The first thing she went to was the window, it has started snowing and the tree had now completely lost its leaves.
The Cuthbert's finally got Thalia her own bed. From under it laid her bags from when she had first moved here. The raven-haired girl pulled them out and rummaged through them in search of a dress fit for today. She found one, it was brown and white with slight puff sleeves.
Anne and Thalia later joined everyone at the theater. "Five golden rings!" The sound of children attempting to sing filled their ears.
"Four calling birds, three french hens," They continued.
"I have to go rehearse, I'm going to be a tree!" Anne says, smiling and joining the rest of the trees.
It was soon after that the rest of the girls arrived at the scene. "Anne!" They all called.
Thalia was left alone once again. She looked around in search of an empty chair, but instead she found something worse. Billy Andrews prancing her way.
"Hey, cutie. Come to watch me build some props?" He asked.
"Um, actually," She started looking around, trying to find a good excuse to make his pompous-self mad. "No, I came to watch Cole." Thalia says giving Billy an obviously fake smile.
Billy scoffed and walked away, going back to his friends, most likely to make something up to make himself look less pathetic.
Smirking, Thalia made her way towards Anne but it fell once she saw what was happening in front of her. People passed by and put their hand on her head as if she was a dog, they called it "good luck." It's a shame that Anne doesn't even realize that's bullying.

"I WAS ACTUALLY thinking of inviting Gilbert over for dinner tomorrow night." Marilla continued whilst rinsing a few dishes. Anne and Thalia sat on the dining table, making conversation.
"Gilbert Blythe?" Anne asked.
"Yes, the only Gilbert that lives around these parts." Marilla answers.
"Would we have to ask him to come?" Thalia asks.
"No, I'd rather do it myself. Though, you could go join Anne to run some errands." Marilla once again answers.
Hours later they did as Marilla asked. Anne attempted to experiential with her short hair by wearing pants and pretending to be a boy for the afternoon.
"That dress sure is beautiful isn't it?" Thalia says after she catches Anne eyeing.
"It really is," Anne replies dreamily.
Right at that moment, a woman, most likely in her late 50's exits out of the shop.
"Excuse me, boy? Can you help, please?" She says, motioning towards her luggage. Anne does as she asks but not longer after she helps, the woman recognizes her.
They make small conversation until Anne returns to the window. "Goodbye dear dress."
"I think it's still meant to be yours." The lady says.
Anne replies but what happens next shocks Thalia, who still stood right beside her adoptive sister.
"You can have it, consider it a gift," the lady says, "is she with you?" She asks pointing to Thalia.
"Yes, she's my new sister." Anne shines a bright smile.
"Then you get a new dress too. Here," She begins to unlock the door to the shop, "pick whichever one you like."

WITH JERRY, the girls returned home to be met by a rather confused looking Marilla. She sat at the dining table with her eyebrows furrowed.
"Is something wrong Marilla?" Thalia asked.
"Not necessarily, Gilbert had a man with him, he must've met him on his trip. His name is Sebastian, and he's um," she cleared her throat, "colored?" She finish's confused once again.
"Will he be joining us?" Anne asks, intrigued for she had never met a colored person before. She would most likely act as if he was the most exotic thing she had ever seen he came.
"He will."

THALIA POV:
I HEARD the door open and close shut from upstairs in our room. Anne and I rushed to finish doing our hair.
"Let me take your coat," We hear Marilla say.
I comb through my curls with my fingers, it shines against the setting sun making them look almost silver. My nerves begin to effect my actions as I almost trip over a wooden floor board on my way out of the room. We finally make our way towards the stairs.
"Go, go, go!" I say, pushing her to go down the stairs first.
"Ok, ok!" Anne replies, giggling.
Once we reached the bottom of the stairs, Anne's pace suddenly slowed. She started to talk about the kingdoms of Africa which makes me face-palm myself mentally. Gilbert and I share a look. What is this girl doing.
Sebastian decides to laugh it off, thank God. After that, Marilla asks Anne and I to blow out the candles on the tree.
"Anne, Merry Christmas," Gilbert says handing her a small gift. "You too, Thalia, here." I know I've only known her for about a month but what he said disappointed me for some reason. It seemed less sincere. I give him a small smile.

AFTER HOURS of talking and eating, Gilbert and Sebastian left with bright smiles. Marilla and Matthew made me and Anne go to sleep but I couldn't quite do that. I kept thinking about Gilbert. He's brilliant, handsome, and knows what he wants to be in the future: a doctor. That was the main topic of our conversation when he walked me home on my second day here. Gilbert was very passionate about it. Stop thinking about him.
To distract myself, I went downstairs, tiptoeing down the creaky stairs to make myself tea. But then I sawAnne who seemed to be in a trance. She was staring at a small book.
"What's that?"
"Oh just the present Gilbert gave me."
"Oh," I say, "What is it?"
"A dictionary," Anne replies, chuckling a little. "You should open yours."
"Maybe later," I pick up the book and stare at it, though I was curious as to what it was, a feeling of little sadness overcame it. "I'll just keep it in our room for now."
Should I get Gilbert a present? I tucked the present under my bed. Maybe later.
