ITS THE START of day No. 2 at the Cuthbert's house. Thalia awakes to the sound of a tree brushing against the window and Anne's growns of sorrow. The sun is nowhere to be found, rain meets grass in large drops once again.

The girls make their way down the creaky steps of the home to be met with Marilla making breakfast and Matthew reading a rather thick book.

We later began to eat our meals, all except Anne. She starred into the abyss until Marilla interrupted her thoughts. "You've barely touched your breakfast. At least drink your milk." She said with a look of sympathy plastered on her face. Anne did as she asked, while also asking for time to slow a bit, so that she wouldn't have to bare the humiliation of going to school anytime soon.

Time dismissed Anne's plea, for time passed quicker than  wanted and the girls began their walk sharing an umbrella.

"Oh, Thalia! I cant believe Marilla is making me do this. We're almost there, I can see the school from here!" Anne cried.

"Anne, I'm sure they won't pay much attention to your hair. Maybe the attention would be on the new student entering class. I could even make a fool of myself if you want me to, for I have nothing to lose."

"I could never let you do that, I could never let you bring humiliation onto yourself as well." She keeps her head low and we enter the small building.

Well, hello. I'm Diana. You're the new girl I presume?" A girl with raven-like hair steps forward as Thalia and Anne put their umbrella away along with their hats.

"Oh right! Diana, this is Thalia. She moved in with me just yesterday! Matthew and Marilla adopted her in hopes that she would be able to comfort me in a way they wouldn't be able to."

Thalia gave a small awkward smile before shaking hands with the girl in front of her.

The red-head continued to complain about her short hair making the other two girls pity her. Diana then took her sky blue ribbon out of her hair and proceeded to put it on Anne in hopes it'd calm her down.

"You know Anne, you remind me of a monarch butterfly. Both graceful, both are noticed almost immediately, both beautiful. You wouldn't be able to deny a butterfly's beauty when their wings have been cut, right?" Thalia held Anne's hands with her own and gave her a small smile.

"Thank you, Thalia. I've barely known you for a day but it really feels like I've known you forever."

Laughter began to fill their ears as Anne prepared to exit the area. Diana walked before Anne as the red-head walked slowly, with her head down. Immediately, all eyes were on her. Some people covered their mouths to hide their amusement, whilst others just stared, jaws dropped. Thalia walked right beside her, trying her best to reassure her, but then something made her stop in her tracks. A boy.
