Alicia's POV

"Alicia Lavoie, you bitch..."  She chased me under the moon light after I snatched her phone when she was talking to her boyfriend, and started running in the middle of the road.

The sky was charcoal black. Street lights illuminated our path as we continued running further and further, without caring about the time and place we were at.

"Alicia, give me my phone!" Rhianna Collin, my best of the best friends shouted from the back as she ran behind me.

Nineteen years of my life has been amazing with her by my side.

I chuckled, turning my head behind my back and replied to her, "Come and get it, hippo!"

We have snuck out of our houses in order to attend the last night of the fun fair that arrives once a year— The Hollins fair. It lasted only for three days and two nights. We tried convincing our parents ever since the fair began to let us go and enjoy with other fellas. But they refused as our exams were round the corner. They expected us to stay back in our rooms and study.

But since this was the last of the two nights, and we were determined to attend it no matter what, we decided to slip out of our rooms at night once our parents had gone to bed and visit the fair.

We had a great time enjoying each of the rides. Thanks to David, Rhianna's boyfriend who bought us two VIP passes. It made our visit all the way more exciting as we didn't have to pay for any ride. And now we were heading home, having fun on our way back.

However, only if I had known this was going to be the baddest of the bad ideas I ever suggested... I would have never insisted Rhianna on doing something like this with me!!!

"Come on hippo, you are too slow. Come, get your pho—" Being tired and since my friend couldn't catch me, I applied brakes to my legs and turned around.

I forwarded the phone further so that Rhianna took it. I smiled, feeling nostalgic about tonight as I observed her, "Aliciaaa," I watched her run towards me with a flushed red face and wide eyed.

I laughed assuming that it was because she was pissed at me for taking her phone.

"Jeez, look at yo—"

"Alicia, watch out!" Before I completed my sentence, Rhianna's fingers pressed against my shoulder and pushed me to the side as she saved me from the car that was approaching me at super speed.

"Rhiannaaaaaa!" And let herself be the victim.

"Rey," She collapsed to the ground not before pouncing in mid air from the hard hit and falling on the dry cold ground, metres away from me.

I saw the car's lights flickering on and off before it caught speed and vanished from my eyesight.

My body froze, eyes blurred with tears, and legs felt jelly. I couldn't move at all. I was thrilled by what happened a few seconds ago.

"Rey," Regardless of how broken and sick I felt, I hurriedly raced to where my friend was lying and collapsed there on my knees.

"Rhianna!! Hey, hippo. Get up. Rey..." I pulled her into my lap and patted her cheeks.

She was bleeding profusely. There was a thick layer of warm blood staining her brown jolly face as she lay unconscious in my arms.

"Rhianna, speak to me." I hopefully stated, wishing for her to reply to me.

Unfortunately, she was unconscious. I nearly died seeing her blood but her pumping heart inside her chest convinced me about her being alive. And that is why, I pushed every vague and bad thought in the corner of my head and called for help.

"HELP!!! Somebody help me. My friend has been hit. She is bleeding. Please help."

I screamed on top of my lungs. As loud as I could in spite of knowing that my throat has dried up. I didn't care to realize we were on an empty and isolated road that linked our city with the other. There was no way that anybody would come for our rescue yet I didn't care to give a damn. All that I cared about was my friend. My only best and loyal friend whom I had the most amazing memories with.

"Rey, please get up. Please, I beg you." I cried stroking her bloody cheek. "I am sorry. And I promise I will never irritate you again but please, for God's sake, get up!"

Alas, there was no way she replied.

I felt pathetically gruesome, thinking about her mother. She was the only child of her mother. Mrs. Collin will never forgive me if anything happens to her. She was the only cause of her existence after her husband died.

I trembled sitting over there rather than doing anything. I didn't know what to do unless my gaze fell on the phone laying beside Rhianna's head.

Yeah, I should call David, her boyfriend. He will come to our rescue as there is no hope for anyone to appear in the middle of the night for us.

I quickly unlocked her cell phone and dialled David's number. The line won't connect as there was no network. "Damn ittt!" I cried banging the phone on the ground.

Time was running out of my hands, so was my friend's blood.

I hadn't realized but blood was everywhere around me. I can feel the wetness under my knees which was nothing but her scarlet thick blood.

"Rhianna..." Closing my eyes shut, I cried.

I cried endlessly with loud sobs. My heart ached feeling her body turning cold under my skin. I wanted to reverse the situation and find myself in her place. Alas, it wasn't possible. The only thing I was capable of doing was— cry.

And that was what I was doing until I felt unusually creepy. A knot of anxiety built in my stomach as I didn't feel alone any longer.

The air grew cold. My fingers numbed. My body trembled and teeth clattered as I suddenly felt cold.

It felt just like how Harry Potter must have felt when dementors arrived in their train, looking for Serious Black, during the ride back to Hogwarts in Prisoner of Azkaban.

It seemed like someone was staring at me! Staring at my condition with their predatory gaze. Dread sat within my stomach and fear caught me harsh and tight. I felt unsafe and dreadful.

The very thought caused me to open my eyes and, "Wh-who are you?" I was taken aback because— there was indeed someone with us.

A guy was kneeling before me, and staring at the blood spreading on the ground with a slightly parted mouth, eager deep red eyes, looking terribly dangerous.

"What the… Fuck!!!" he muttered, making a chill run down my spine.
