5. That guy

"Tha-thank you, doc. Thank you soo very much." Alicia slumped by the side of the wall with teary eyes while the doctor left her alone.

Her heart filled with joy and pleasure, knowing that her friend was brought just within time. She prayed to God and smiled happily for the doctor just informed her that her friend was taken into the OT and the best part was that she was rushed in just few minutes before it was too late.

"Where is that guy?" Wiping her eyes, Alicia blinked her lashes and examined the empty corridor outside the OT, looking for that red eyed guy.

She walked back all the way through the waiting lounge and paused at the reception centre where a sighing old woman sat, reading a book over her night shift.

"Yes?" the woman was fat and pale. Her dirty curly hair were pulled up in a bun while specs sat on her nose bridge.

"Uh, I am looking for a guy. He was... He was tall and broad with red eyes and dressed in black shade. He was the one who rushed my friend to hospital." Alicia tried to explain his features.

The old woman disinterestingly rolled her eyes, "What about him?"

"Ah, I want to know if you saw him. I mean, if you can tell me where'd he go?" replied Alicia with a forced smile as the woman's dark looks made her uneasy.

She can see the receptionist was bored and her job of sitting at the computer at the time she should be catching sleep was annoying. But this was her job. She was supposed to answer her yet all that she did was act as though answering the visitor's questions was a very big deal.

For a second Alicia felt like doing the job on her own and go look for him herself when the woman said, "Look dear, no one came along with your friend. We just found her laying outside the hospital door with a note."

"Note???" Her jaw dropped and the flashes of the guy's face flickered across her eyes.

He was not an image created by her mind, was he? Obviously not. She legit saw him with her eyes.

Alicia focused back at the woman and heard her say.

"Yes. You can go ask the gatekeeper as he was the one who gave a shout and called the ward boys with a stretcher for an injured girl he spotted outside." She informed, blowing her mind off.

It was hard to believe what she said still Alicia smiled and thanked her and immediately hurried outside the hospital building to see the watchman. She found him standing outside his small cabin by the left side of the gate, talking on his phone. He was the same man who guided her inside.

As soon as he finished and brought his gaze on her, Alicia asked, "Um Sir, the receptionist told me that you found my friend outside the gate on the ground. Is that... True?"

A part of her heart wanted an answer in a no but alas, when the man in uniform agreed with a nod of head, her breaths hitched. "I sure did."

"Okay... Uh, c-can you show me the note you found with her?"

"Sure, here it is." He reached inside his back pocket and handed a yellow parchment to her.

It was a pamphlet of a food item at the back of which the note remained written,

'This girl met with an accident at the highway outside the city and her friend will be here in sometime. She is dressed in black jeans and a crop top with long hair. Let her know that her friend is taken for treatment and that she will be fine.'

There was no name, no salutation, nothing. It was just a plain message that was meant for the watchman as it looked like since he was to be the first person to notice her.
