CHAPTER 1 - YOU'RE HIRED

ETHAN POV

''Ethan, darling, Jade just got into an accident. It's all over the news!''

''What?!!'' I put on a jacket and rushed into the car and drove madly on the streets of San Francisco. There's no way it could be Jade! I just sent her off. 

I yelled at the receptionist, ''Where is Jade Wilson? I need to see her!''

''Sir, she's in the surgery right now. I'm sorry, you can't see her.''

''Tell me!'' She then did, with an afraid look on her face. I ran, like I had never, pushing through the patients in a hurry.

''Tell me. Is it true? Is it Jade?'' I clutched at her mother's shoulders, breathing hard.

''Y..yes.'' She replied in a feeble tone, eyes swollen from all the crying. 

It can't be her. She told me she didn't need me to drive her home. I shouldn't have listened to her. It's all my fault now. My fault.

My knees gave out and I slammed my fists hard on the floor, allowing the tears to fall freely. 

I slowly opened my eyes and ran my hands through my hair slowly, as if all the energy had drained out of me.

''Mr. Brian, you have a phone call on hold.'' Emma's voice blared through the intercom.

''Transfer it, Emma'' I said in a tired tone. I had worked overnight and failed to catch at least an hour of sleep.

''Mr. Brian, you have a meeting scheduled at 8:30 and an interview for recruitment at 10 am.''

''James, can you conduct the interview and give the results later?''

''I'm sorry sir, but the candidates ask for you.''

''Yeah, fine''

There goes the time for my breakfast.

''Ethan, I heard you're recruiting women'' Ace, unfortunately who was my friend entered my office, without knocking, scaring the shit out of me.

''Watch your mouth, idiot.''

''Hey, that's what Jamie told me. All are women who probably fell for your looks and can't wait to spend a night with you.'' He snickered and sat at the edge of my table.

''Valentina, send the next candidate....and ask Jamie here.''

As Ace chatted away, A 'crash' distracted us and Valentina stood beside the door with her face filled with pure shock and Jamie behind her. She had dropped the I pad, which was now in pieces.

''I'm sorry sir...I..''

''Do you know what it contains?'' Jamie yelled at her. Valentina was an intern, the youngest and the most hardworking employee. She was often bullied but I decided to stay out just to see how long it would last. I wanted employees who can speak for themselves.

''It's now impossible to retain the information and....'' James was still yelling when a cool voice spoke behind them.

''Easy there, mister. You're hurting my ears.'' It must be one of my hallucinations. There's no way it was her. I took a sip from my coffee, ignoring to take a look at the direction of the voice.

Ace shook my hand, as if to gain my attention and I irritatedly set the coffee down. 

''What?'' And it was then I saw her. After 5 years.
