Yuki watched his cousin storm out of the room, an overwhelming feeling of dread flooding into his body. “Please don’t worry Miss Chiyu, I’ll talk some sense into him.” He sighed, trying his best not to heighten anyone’s worry, especially Tohru’s or Mei’s.
“Yes, it’s best to leave this up to Yuki.” Shigure agreed, resting his head on the table.
“If you’re sure-” Mei said, a little uneasy.
Yuki nodded, giving her a small smile. “It’s alright, I’ll let you know if he wants to speak to you. I trust your judgement, so don’t worry.”
“Thank you, Yuki-san.”
He nodded and started out of the room, making his way outside. He spotted Haru lounging against a tree on the outskirts of the woods, his legs spread out in front of him and his head against the bark. “Haru?” He asked, getting closer to his cousin.
“Go away. I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Haru, I think we should talk about it. About Rin-”
Haru opened his eyes, turning to glare at Yuki. “I don’t care about that anymore. All I care about is that asshole using her against me. That’s evil.”
“Well-” Yuki paused, moving so he sat on he ground beside Haru. “Was Akito telling the truth?”
Haru opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. He huffed in annoyance, gritting his teeth. “In the beginning- yes.”
“But not anymore?” The silence told Yuki everything he needed to know, and he nodded quietly. “I think you should tell Miss Chiyu how you feel about her.”
“I can’t.” Haru spoke in a quiet, broken whisper. “As soon as I do, Akito’s going to take her away. Just like Rin. I- I won’t let her get hurt by that bastard.”
Yuki sighed, standing up. “You’re just as hard headed as Kyo sometimes. I’m sending Miss Chiyu out to talk to you, don’t be an ass.”
“As if I could with her-” Haru said softly, making Yuki chuckle.
Yuki headed back inside, a small smile on his face. He’d gotten what he’d needed out of one of them, an admission. But even he knew how dangerous it was to be around Akito, and as much as he wanted to see Haru happy, he didn’t want to see Mei hurt either.
“Miss Chiyu-” He paused in the doorway to the sitting room, where everyone was settled around the table sipping tea. “He’s still upset, but-”
“Is he okay?”
Yuki paused, a small breath of relief coming from his mouth. “Yes, he’s alright. You can go speak to him if you want, he’s outside.”

“Haru?” I slipped my shoes on, making my way over to him. He had moved from where Yuki had said he was, to now laying in the yard with his hands tucked under his head. I kicked him in the side gently with my toe, just enough to get him to focus on me.
“The fuck was that for?” He huffed, glaring up at me through the setting sun.
“For being a jerk inside.” I shrugged, sitting at his side with my knees pulled up to my chest. “But, I’m glad your okay.”
He snorted, rolling over so he laid on his stomach. “You don’t need to worry about me.”
“Well when you come in the house just radiating ‘Dark Haru’ vibes, I’m gonna be a little worried. Especially if you just talked to Akito.” I sighed. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“No.” He spoke, staring straightforward at the Koi pond.
“I’m just glad you’re alright, you always seem so upset anymore.” I laid backwards, turning my head to look at him.
“Tch- Name one time I’ve been upset.” He scoffed, smirking up at me with his eyebrow raised.
“Besides everyday?” I chuckled, hitting him in the shoulder. “I hurt my hand, and you acted like the world was practically ending. Or that day you and I made ramen because you were being angsty?”
“Shut up.” He rolled his eyes, slinging an arm over my mouth. “I’m not angry when I’m with you.”
“Heh!?” I furrowed my eyebrows, staring at him. “You’re always angry at me!”
“No way.”
“Yes!”
“I could never be angry at you.” He huffed, putting his head in his arms. “Now shut up before I pummel you into the ground.”
My cheeks must have turned as red as Kyo’s hair, and I turned away from him instantly. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Exactly what it sounds like.”

Shigure peeked out of the porch doors, his eyes on the two kids in the front yard. “What did I tell you boys?” He asked, turning to face Kyo and Yuki. “Love is in the air!”
“You’re still wrong, and a fool.” Kyo shook his head. “There’s no way Mei will fall for that dumb cow.”
Yuki shook his head at the table, sipping his tea. “I’m afraid I have to agree with the dog on this one.” He ignored how Kyo stared at him like he was crazy, and sighed. “However, I worry how Mei will deal with her emotions once she finds out about Haru’s past.”
“Hatsuharu’s past?” Tohru asked curiously. “Do you mean Isuzu-san?”
“You know about her?” Shigure asked, turning away from his snooping.
“Yes!” Tohru nodded. “Momiji-kun told me about her!”
“Oh dear-” Shigure tutted. “I fear that boy can’t keep his mouth shut about anything. This could be trouble.”
“For the meantime,” Yuki stood up, making his way to the porch doors. “Lets let them work this out for themselves. I think the road ahead is going to be rocky, but Mei’s persistence tells me it could work out for the better.”
“And Haru’s tells me it could work out for the worse.” Shigure added, sighing as he watched the two kids arguing in the yard. “Well, one things for sure, they love each other.”
“Even if they don’t notice it, yes, it’s undeniable.” Yuki agreed. “I just hope that everything works out for them in the end. I’d hate for things to turn out the same as before.”
