I'm a mermaid, and for the first time in my life, at the age of 10 I can finally go up the surface. My mother and father, let me see what's above. And ofcourse, I was excited I swam around both of my parents. Not Queens or Kings, just normal Mermaid and Merman.

So finally. My mom and dad, swam me up close to the surface. They say me their goodbyes and laters, then headed back down to the sea bed. I swam faster, faster and faster. Until I saw a bright light shining above me.

For the first time, I saw what the sky looks like, and the round orb that is floating above the white things, that they call sun and clouds.

I was so excited that I even tried to swim towards the Orb. But I couldn't reached it, so I gave up. While I was looking around, I saw an Island!

Oh how Excited I am to see an Island, mostly I only saw them on our shell books and now its right infront of me.

I swam as fast as I can, until I reached it, I hide behind a rock. And looked at all those colors, which I already knew. The ocean have those colors too, but they are nothing like corals, seaweeds.

I swam much closer to it, only for the water to turn green. I have never seen the water turn to green like this before, the place was all covered in greens, and wild flowers that I've never seen before. I saw a blue flower and its so beautiful, not even caring about the water turning green.

While I was looking at this wild flower, I heard distant voices. I dipped my head into the water, but I'm sure they can still see my
H/c hair. I looked around and saw a thing that is floating above water and has a wild flower on top of it. I swam towards it and placed it above my head.

While I was hiding my head, I didn't notice that someone was watching me.

"Hey, what are you doing?"

I flinched, thinking if I should move or not.

He sighed, "You know I can still see you right? Under that lilipad"

Lilipad? So that is the name. I removed the lilipad off of my head and looked at where the voice is.

To see a human standing not far but close enough for us to have a conversation, without shouting. He has Brown hair and green eyes, and I'm sure his about the same age as I am.

He crouched down and pulled out his hand. "Come on. Your gonna catch a cold"

A cold? What's a cold? "Umm, No thank you. Im good"

He puts his hands back, and sighed. "What are you doing?"

"Um swimming?" I said. "Yes I can see that, but why are you swimming? Its cold you know"

"Um, its not cold for me" I said looking away. He let out an 'Mhm' sound.

"So.. Uh, what are you doing here? Sh-shouldn't you be playing with your friends?"

"Same too you. You should be playing with your friends, not swimming alone." Is this boy serious, is this how humans talk to each other?

"Um, I don't have friends here" I said looking down.

"Hmm.. I haven't seen you around before, where are you from?" He asked, tilting forward a bit.

What should I do. Should I tell him, that I'm from the ocean? Should I tell him that I'm a mermaid?

"It's ok, if you dont wan-" I cut him off. "I'm from the ocean!" looking at his face, looking for any reaction.

He looks at me confuse. "So your from another village? And you crossed the ocean? Am I right?"

"Um no, no Im not from another village. Im from the ocean"

"A village named ocean?" he said tilting his head to the side confuse.

"N-no. The ocean, as in the water." Ugh, why explaining it to him is hard.

"Are you a pirate perhaps?"

Ugh! Can't he take a hint?! Does he not heard of us mermaids?!

"Ugh No its-"

"A mermaid." He said.

"Your a mermaid, right?" He said not crouching down anymore but now on his knees, leaning forward.

I looked at him shock, why am I so shock that's what I was trying to tell the whole time!

"Y-yes.." I said still have my shock face.

"Prove it." he said " If your a mermaid then show me your tail"

I nodded, I swam closer to him so that he can see my tail. He moves out of the way, for me to crawl. When I'm finally at the land. He saw my sparkling F/c scales.

He looked shock and amazed. He leans closer to me, with a wide smile.

"I haven't seen a mermaid before. Wow.. Your tail looks so beautiful" He said, looking at my tail.

I have a light tint of blush plastered on my face. I looked down my face feeling a bit hot.

"Say, why not I be your friend?" He said looking at me. I looked at him with a shock face.

"I-I dont know. You- you'll tell everybody that you saw a mermaid, and when we became friend. You will betray me and sell me to those pirates" I said with a sad face, looking down at my tail.

"I won't tell anyone, to tell you the truth I dont have any friends." He said smiling

"Y-you don't? But how? I thought humans are good at socialising"

"Hmm.. Not me though. Even if I did tell them, that I saw a mermaid, no one will believe me. Exceot for my sister though, I'm sure she'll love to see you. But I wont tell her if your uncomfortable." He said smiling again, with his emerald eyes shining at me.

I look back at forth to my tail and to him. And finally I said yes on becoming his friend. He has the wildest, widest smile I have ever seen.

" My names Laurance Zvahl, what's yours? "

" Um, Y/n. Y/n Azure."

And that day, I have made a new friend, not a mermaid not a merman but a human. A nice and cute human boy, and now his my friend.
