Salem sat in her dorm doing her makeup for the gala tonight.

It was New Year's Eve and she insisted to Lucy that she had to go back to Hogwarts to get ready.

She tied her hair up into a classy updo and was now finishing off her look with red lipstick.

She slid the silver dress over the lingerie that she had on in case Lucy and her needed to exit the party for a few minutes. She chuckled at the thought while she zipped up the back and stepped into the white heels that she had set out.

She kissed the sleeping cat that was laying on her comforter as she clasped her new cloak around her neck.

"Severus will be by to check on you later." She whispers to Mas as she rubs her ears and then apparates.

Malfoy Manor

Salem opened her eyes to find herself right outside the open gates of the well-lit, Malfoy Manor.

She saw several other people walking in and she followed towards the back of the herd as they all walked through the center walkway to the house.

After all the people make it through the door and into the ballroom, Salem steps through the foyer and back into the house to find Abraxas greeting everyone who entered.

"Ah, miss Sioux. Lucius is upstairs getting ready." He tells the girl. "Thank you, Mister Malfoy." She quickly says to him before she walks past the sign that tells all guests to stay out of the upstairs.

She opens the door to find Lucius dabbing cologne on his neck. "Well don't you look dashing." She says as he notices her in the reflection of the mirror.

He had on a full black suit, silver rings on his fingers, and his hair pulled back in a low ponytail with the lace that Salem used to tie his hair back on the day of the big quidditch match.

"You look like a goddess." He says as he kisses her. "You should see what I'm wearing under it." She playfully says as she gives him one more quick kiss. "Oh, I'm sure I will find out later into the night." He chuckles as she blushes from his comment.

With the snake-headed cane in one hand and Salem's in the other, he walked downstairs desperately trying to avoid people.

Stepping into the enormous ballroom, Salem looked in awe at the brightly lit, well-decorated room.

Some people danced, some sat and talked at the tables and some enjoyed the food that the elves provided. She smiled at the joyous energy that radiated in the room as they took two glasses of champagne that one of the elves was serving.

"Oh, that's strong." She says as she lightly coughs after her sip of champagne. "I ask them to mix it a little stronger so I can get through the night." He says as he sets both of their glasses on a table.

"May I have this dance?" he asks as he holds out his hand. "You may." She says as a soft smile overtakes her face.

Once they reach the dance floor that was crowded with people, he takes her hand with one and positions one on her waist. A smooth violin song comes on and everybody begins to dance.

As the two move across the floor, Lucius couldn't help but stare and admire her.

The way that perfect face of hers giggled and lit up at the sight of him. The way she gave it her everything just to make him happy, the way she smiled when he talked. If there was any word that he could use to describe her, it would be perfect.

She was perfect in his eyes and she was all that he's ever loved. In this cold and cruel world that he called home, she was his happiness. Salem was his everything.
