written in Eustace Athena's POV
Eustace has always liked the sound that the pavements made every time she walks on them. She loved it just like how she loved the splash of colors in their club room when she was still in high school.
It almost felt like a dream, meeting Trent and him turning her life upside and down. She didn't know, that this one accidental event in her day would change a lot of her life. Just when she thought that she finally has someone who understands her, she totally forgot someone who has been there for almost years, the one who has always been trying to comprehend her situation. To consider her feelings.
It wasn't someone's fault for Eustace to became oblivious towards Casper's feelings. It wasn't intentional to fall in love with Eustace, and it wasn't intentional to make her fall in love too. Despite his reputation of being known as someone who had dated girls, says Trent.
"We're out of supplies. Tatlong box lang ng colors ang nagkulang, and the kids won't share." Zayrel let out a sigh, before looking at the group of children in front of her.
"I'd drop by a place near. 'Yung palagi kong binibilhan?" Eustace replied and volunteered. "I thought, Riye has the list of every name in each section. Akala ko sakto na ang nabili para sa creational activities."
Nostalgia was all she felt upon being in the same club room, along with the children of Eramis who seem to find interest in arts. Bahagya siyang napangiti, memories started to flashback in her mind. In the first place, she didn't really need someone to understand her. She just needs time to understand herself first. That was the very goal even from the beginning. For her to learn her self value, to stop being self-centered who keep her issues within herself.
Granting the kids' requests, she went outside the school, leaving her friends for a while, to go back to the usual place where she used to buy her materials for her club back then. It was also the main reason why she met Trent, and she regrets nothing of them.
People come to our lives with reasons behind it. The actual purpose, and their true roles in our lives. And both Trent and Casper came to her life to be a lesson, both didn't leave but remained as a lesson.
A smile starts to form on her lips as she stomps her feet continuously on the pavements she's currently standing at. Not minding the other people's businesses. With a paper bag on her hands that contains the three boxes of color.
When she was about to stop one of her feet accidentally slipped away causing her to fall, but it wasn't quick when someone's arms went for a fistful pull and grabbed her.
"Careful."
Chuckling to herself, upon hearing the familiar voice, she glanced at him and confirmed it.
They stayed like the usual. Staring at each other's eyes soulfully. While hearing each other's heartbeat. It's been years since they've been this close personally. She already graduated from College. At simula noon ay naging casual sila, greeting each other at their birthdays, in holidays and other occasions.
And hopefully, everything between the two of them stayed platonic.
The two of them stayed as themselves, who understands each other.
Because both of them too, have realized that they were better off as friends.
"It's funny how we'll casually meet here," Eustace said with a small smile on her lips, pulling away from Casper.
"Kung hindi ka ba naman palaging nadudulas dito, ewan ko na lang." He laughs bringing a hand to the top of her head. "It was nice seeing you again, yams." He smiled.
"You're forgiven. You know that right?" She asked still with a smile.
"I know. I already know since years ago. And I'm fine and contented on what we have."
"True," she chuckled. "The kids are waiting inside, shall we?"
"As we should, princess." Casper lends Eustace an arm, as Eustace clings into it as they walked inside the school again, a school the specifically brings the name of the city where it all started.
The pavements, in the City of Eramis. Is sure, a big part of Eustace's life.
