chapter 2

Harsh sunlight filtered through the window and straight into your eyes. You groaned, turning over onto your other side only to feel stabbing pains spread through your right leg.

Wincing, you slowly opened your eyes. You were in some kind of bunk room, with a window and a door at the other end. It seemed to be mid-day right about now.

Ugh,my head hurts. What the hell happened last night? You tried to recollect the events of last night. Injured leg, strange foreign room, the fact that it's mid-day and you never sleep in-

Oh. You suddenly recall the events of last night and the strange cat-like man, Obi. Shoot, I gotta get out of here. Is anyone guarding me? You strained your ears, trying to hear any evidence of a guard nearby.

"-can't you be a little more gentle when capturing someone Obi? They didn't even have a weapon on them!" A female voice was approaching. Shirayuki, probably. "Ah- Well they were going to get away Miss! Do you know how scary Master is when he's furious?" That was most likely Obi. He's the only one to refer to Shirayuki as 'Miss'.

The two opened the door to your room. "Ah, you're awake?" Shirayuki said, a bit surprised. Instinctively, you leaped out of bed in alarm, accidentally landing on your injured leg. You yelped in pain, losing your balance and falling forward towards Shirayuki. In an instant, Obi was in between the two of you, and caught you with ease. "For the record," Obi announced, "I only caught you because you were about to fall on the Mistress. Otherwise, I would've let you fall flat on your face."

This is so embarrassing... you grumbled to yourself, pulling out of Obi's arms hastily. Dusting yourself off, you muttered, "The boss better pay me 10 times more than usual for this to be remotely worth it."

"What was that?" Obi asked, peering at you with his hands on his hips. You stiffened, "N-Nothing!" You said quickly, smiling nervously. He raised a brow but said no more, opting to look at Shirayuki's notes instead.

"Oh- I forgot to ask for your name!" Shirayuki said, looking up to you expectantly." You looked down at the floor. "It's... Y/N..." You said slowly. Shirayuki quote down what you assumed was your name.

"Alright Y/N, can you sit down on the bed for me? I'd like to see how your leg is coming along."
"Uh..." You hesitated, weighing your options. There was no way to escape with Obi right there. From the way the sun shone through the window you were on the second floor, so the window wasn't a good option either. Sighing, you made your way over to the bed you woke up in. Shirayuki seemed nice enough, and you felt bad for stalking her all day yesterday.

She got to work the moment you sat down, unwrapping the bandages and cleaning off the blood gently. You winced, trying not to let the pain show.

An awkward moment of silence passed before you spoke, "So... You're not going to get mad at me for stalking you all day?" You internally cringed at the following silence.
"Well, I'm not really bothered by it. I've already been warned that this might happen. Honestly, I'm not sure why people are so interested, but some rumor won't change Zen's real feelings, and thats all that matters to me. Plus, you weren't carrying any weapons so I'm sure you meant no real harm." Shirayuki responded. You blinked in surprise. You didn't expect her to respond so honestly.

"Oh, I se- AGH-" You gritted your teeth. Shirayuki had pulled the bandage a little too hard. "Oh! I'm sorry!" She looked a little worried.

The pain subsided and you waved your hand dismissively, "It's fine, I've felt worse."
"Well," Obi, who had been leaning on the wall, stood up straighter. "I think it's about time that you go have a little chat with Master." You gulped, "T-The second prince of Clarines? Prince Zen...?"
