"Good as new Shirayuki!" You grinned, flexing your leg. Shirayuki beamed, "Does it hurt when you walk?" You shook your head, feeling yourself getting giddy at the fact that you can finally use your leg properly again.
It had been about a week since your midnight talk with Obi, and things had been going smoothly. Obi seemed to be a little more relaxed and open, though you still knew next to nothing about him.
Just for good measure, you jumped up and stomped on your right leg a couple times, despite Shirayuki's protests. "Hmm, well, if it doesn't hurt from that then I guess it's all good!" You gave her a sloppy thumbs up. Obi laughed from his position at the doorway, "You seem to be in high spirits."
"Well, if you couldn't run and jump around for a week I'm sure you would feel the same way as well." You retorted. Obi huffed, "I have not known the pleasure of such an injury."
"Oh trust me, you don't want to know monkey man."
Obi blinked, feigning hurt. "Why, I can't believe you'd use such a vile nickname. Should I call you Feisty instead?" You shot him a grim look, "If you call me that even once, I'm sure even the northern Wilant castle will feel my fury from here."
Obi held his hands up, blinking innocently, "Just a lil' joke!"
"Alright you two, enough of that. Let's head of to Zen's office and let him know the good news." Shirayuki interrupted your little feud. Obi nodded, "I'm sure he's very eager to make the most out of you, Y/N." You gulped, smiling nervously. "Hah, I can't wait..."
The three of you strode through the hallways and towards the prince's office. Once you arrived, Obi opened the door for you and Shirayuki. Mitsuhide and Kiki stood by in the room as Zen seemed completely zoned in to his paperwork. Kiki cleared her throat, and Zen looked up in surprise to find Obi, Shirayuki, and you standing patiently.
"I assume there is a reason for this visit?" He eyed you carefully. Shirayuki was the first to speak up, "Yes, we just wanted to let you know that Y/N's injury has been fully healed." The prince raised a brow. Feeling the need to do something, you shook your leg and bowed deeply, just to make sure he got the point.
"I can see that you're well. No need for theatrics, Y/N."
Your face flushed pink with embarrassment. You leaned a little closer to Obi, whispering, "I don't think the prince appreciates my humor." Obi stifled a laugh, leaning towards you to reply quietly, "Do you think anyone would be happy if some stranger did a little jig in their office?"
Though you hated to agree, Obi was right. You huffed, half in amusement and half in annoyance.
The prince cleared his throat, "If the two of you are done, I would like to get down to business." Both of you immediately straightened your backs and looked forward. Prince Zen shot a look towards Obi that seemed to say, 'you're going to have to explain yourself later.' Obi lightly shrugged his shoulders in response.
Sighing, Prince Zen continued. "Y/N, do you consider yourself skilled in combat?" You blinked. "Ah- Well I did handle myself pretty well with a simple dagger out on the streets. I'm better at the gymnastics and martial arts side, though."
The prince tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Obi." The man in question stood straighter, "Yes, Master?"
"I want you to have a duel with Y/N. I'll see from there what kind of job I should give them. You should be fine with it, seeing as you two are so close."
Obi bowed, though you could see the slightest bit of pink coloring his cheeks. "As you wish."
