You tossed a bright red apple into the air and took a large bite out of it. It was currently morning at Wistal castle, and you were waiting for Obi to rendezvous at the kitchen before heading to Prince Zen's office.
Your thoughts wandered back to the night two days ago, and how the next morning you had woken up with Obi's jacket draped over you. You remembered jumping out of bed, blush creeping across your face as you realized you had fallen asleep on the rooftop and definitely not on your bed. You let out an embarrassed huff, feeling your cheeks heat up at the thought of it even now.
What is taking this man so long? You thought exasperatedly, looking around to see if Obi was coming anytime soon. You finished eating the apple and threw it into the nearest trashcan, silently pumping your fist when you managed to land it in the basket from a far.
You ears pricked at the sound of footsteps approaching from the hallway, and you turned around to see Obi with Mitsuhide, both with apologetic looks on their face. You rolled your eyes, "Sleep in late? Again?"
Obi laughed nervously and rubbed the back of his head. Mitsuhide was the first to speak up, "It's so difficult getting this guy out of bed!" He complained. "Maybe I should get you to wake him up next time. I'm sure he'll jump out of bed ready to run a marathon." He grumbled, sighing.
"Eh!? Hey- What's that supposed to mean??" Obi protested, stepping in front of Mitsuhide. "Oh, don't worry about it, we need to get to Zen's office before he sends us all to the punishment room." Mitsuhide dismissed the question and stepped aside to continue his way to Prince Zen's office.
"Are you coming, Y/N?" He turned his head to look at you. You blinked, "Oh- yeah!" you did a little jog to catch up with Mitsuhide, slowing down to his pace when you stood next to him. "Hey- Mitsuhide- Mitsuhide!!" Obi persisted, waving his hand in front of the other's face. If Mitsuhide heard him, he made no move to make that known.
"How was your morning, Y/N? I hope you've warmed up to life in the castle well." Mitsuhide asked, continuing to ignore Obi. You stifled a laugh, deciding to play along. "It's been well. I will admit having Shirayuki here helps me get used to things a lot faster.
"C'mon Y/N, you too?!" Obi shot an exasperated look at the both of you. You could see a glint of amusement in Mitsuhide's eyes. The dark haired attendant sighed, giving up.
Eventually they felt bad and let Obi join the conversation, talking until they reached the door to Prince Zen's room. The three of them made their way inside to find Prince Zen at his desk and Kiki already standing by.
Prince Zen raised an eyebrow. "You're late." He observed. "We apologize. A certain someone couldn't wake up in a timely manner." You replied. Obi made an offended noise, sending you a look that seemed to say, "look I'm sorry!!".
The prince exhaled, smiling. "Well, never mind that, we have an important mission. Come here."
Everyone in the room crowded around Prince Zen's desk, where we laid out a map of the kingdom. He pointed to a section to the east of the castle. "Recently, there's been a dramatic increase in crime here. The soldiers can barely keep up with everything. I've already sent reinforcements but I'd like to go there myself and see how things are going for myself."
You blinked, staring at the place Prince Zen's finger hovered over. You must've looked troubled, because the prince asked, "Y/N? Is something the matter?"
You looked up from the map and shook your head. "Oh, nothing. It's just that... that's where I grew up." Prince Zen hummed and tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Ah, you're right. I remember hearing about that."
"Huh?" You tilted your head, "You knew?"
Prince Zen laughed nervously, "Well, I had to look into you a little when you intruded the castle." You shrugged, "Well, I guess that's reasonable."
