"I saw your post about MC and Saeyoung on high school and my brain just went

A Vanderwood x Reader in high school too, but Vandy before the agency and all, delinquent-ish. Like he's not a bad kid, he's having a rough time and need a shoulder to lean on, please, help this man.
If it's alright, I'd like to request that. I love your writing 💜
I'm sorry for my english, I tried my best but I'm not sure I wrote everything right."

● He was never the most vocal person, partially because speaking up (and especially disagreeing) was not a good idea at home
● At first people thought he was an easy target, since he was so quiet
● Wrong. Vanderwood had a short temper, so as soon as someone pissed him off, he didn't hesitate to make it very obvious. Not only verbally. Which more often than not got him into trouble. At school and at home
● At some point majority of people at school started keeping their distance from him and he was fine with that. The less people talked to him, the less he'd had to deal with idiots
● That was until you came to his school
● You got warned a lot about keeping your distance from him. That he meant nothing but trouble and would only be a bad influence for you
● But for some reason, you decided to ignore everyone and still approached him
● You were so different from him. Bubbly, warm, basically a little ray of sunshine. Pretty much the complete opposite of how he usually acted. So color him confused when you showed genuine interest in him
● You could've asked anyone to show you around and help you find your classes. Though you picked him. Something that didn't make any sense to him at all
● Also, as much as he usually hated people talking his ear off, it wasn't as bad when you talked about all kinds of things to make up for the silence or short answers on his side. In fact, he actually enjoyed listening to you
● You weren't judgmental at all, even seemed to see right through his act, that was mainly something he did to protect himself
● You never pushed him to talk about anything that could've made him feel uncomfortable. Something he highly appreciated
● But at the same time you still managed to coax some things out of him with your gentle persistence. Not to mention how adorably excited you always got when he did share something with you
● You easily managed to make his days a little bit brighter
● It didn't take long until you two spent every free moment at school together
● Eventually, once he realized just how badly he had fallen for you, he even managed to ask you out. And you? You were beaming, accepting happily and telling him you were fine with anything he'd had in mind
● You two ended up grabbing some takeout, before he took you to his favorite spot, he usually went to whenever he needed to be alone
● Not the worst idea for a first date. You two were alone, it was quiet and with the way the evenings began to be a bit more chilly, he had the opportunity to give you his jacket and wrap his arm around you, to keep you warm
● Safe to say, things went well and it didn't take long until you were officially a couple
● He wasn't the biggest fan of PDA, but he did hold your hand everywhere you went, or had an arm wrapped around you
● Sometimes, when you asked sweetly (or when someone looked at you in a way that just didn't sit right with him) he'd actually give in to some kisses as well. Though most affection was saved for when you were alone
● While you managed to keep him out of trouble at school, things at home were still bad
● And when it got even worse one evening, his first thought was to just not tell you. He didn't want to burden you with his issues
● Though then he remembered how you so often seemed to look straight through his lies and if there was someone he trusted wholeheartedly, it was you
● That's how he showed up at your place, the black eye he'd most definitely sport already starting to form
● At first, he felt bad. Seeing how worried you were, when you ushered him inside
● Though at the same time he could've melted at how carefully you held an ice pack to his eye. And your hand running repeatedly through his hair easily helped him relax
● "What happened? Who did that to you?"
● So he began to tell you about the situation at home. How aggressive his father was. How his mother always turned a blind eye on everything or even sided with his father. He also told you that having a black eye was actually a minor thing
● For a moment you kept quiet, before you wrapped your arms around him, nearly clinging to him
● "You can always come here, okay? No matter the reason or time. This house is a safe place", you murmured with your lips pressed to his neck
● "Thank you..."
● His heart was beating rapidly and for the first time in forever he actually felt safe with someone
● After that night, you two were even closer. All free periods got spent together. You didn't have a class together? He made sure to walk you to your classes
● He even warmed up to some mild PDA, including some pecks here and there, whenever either of you felt like it
● The pet name he liked to give you most, besides the classic "babe", was "sunshine". Because that's what you were in his life
● Any school activity you took part in? He made sure to be there and support you
● And he also made sure no one would even think about trying to pull some kind of stunt on you
● If he was being absolutely honest, school (and his life in general) had become less shitty, ever since you showed up
● It was easy to be honest and vulnerable around you
● He regularly thanked you for everything you did for him
● "I love you. And I'm so glad that you're a persistent, little shit."
● You laughed brightly, a sound that never failed to make him smile. "I love you, too. My little trouble maker~"
