Chapter Nine - Truth

After james walked out my room I closed my door and went to bed. My dream was weird. I was back in my old house. My mom had the belt in her hand. I turned around and there was me, as a two year old. A man was holding me. "I love you my sweetheart" He said running his fingers into my hair. "I love you too daddy." I said hugging him. His head turned to me,"watch out!" He yelled, I turned around. To get a hit in the face with the belt. My eyes fluttered open. I put on my boots and a jacket, then headed to the barn. When I got there I went to the cow. I sat with her not talking, Just brushing her. "K?" I Hurd a voice say sleeply, I looked up. James was on the shelf thing. Crap. "Hey James. Sorry to wake you." I said. "Nope c'mon" James motioned him hand for me to come. I spotted the ladder on the side and climbed up. Close to the top my foot slipped. I started to fall when something grabbed me by the collar. Pulling me up I saw it was James. His sleepy smile made me smile too. He sat me down on his wool blanket. He had a blanket over the hay that covered the shelf, then there was a really soft blanket that was over his body. He was wearing a old blue T-shirt. I crawled into the blanket with him. Mostly cause it was cold, but also cause I have never been with a guy in the middle of the night before. He looked at me with his sleepy grin. We both laid on his bed, a distance between us. Nothing But silence, my eyes slowly closed. "Why did you ask to come here?" James said as my eyes flew open. I turned to look at him, his big green eyes. "Because my mom hit me with a belt, Just for fun. She just didn't love me and I had to get out." I replied, my turn to ask a question. "Why are you living in this barn" James eyes went cold. "My mom died when I was three, and my dad wanted a daughter not a son. So he sent me to his old friends, Mrs.Beth. Last I knew he got remarried and now has three daughters." James was still looking at me. James cleared his throat, "why do you cut yourself?" I thought he forgot about that! "Because no one loves me." I whispered his eyes in shock. "It hurts, now what happened between you and the she-devil?" I said, I just realized me and James have been staring at each other for the past half hour. James cocked an eyebrow. "Cassie." I rolled my eyes duh it cassie. "We were dating and we went to get a tour of a college we both wanted. A friend of mine came along, I told cassie to go with my friend back to where we were staying. After I was done talking to the professors I went to the hotel." His eyes were sad now," I walked in on them kissing and hugging. She said she loved him." I pushed his hair behind his ears and then put my head on his pillow. We talked about movies and music. We both slowly fell asleep.
