Scott's P.O.V.
I fell to the ground. I could not see one thing. The light outside vanished, and in its place was total blackness. There was a scream, but it was cut off. I looked towards where it came from realizing that it was Lisa's.
"Lisa? Are you okay?" No response came, and I my eyes began adjusting. I stood up, and walked over. When I looked down, I let out a scream. Where she was sleeping was now an empty space. Somehow, she vanished. All that was left was her wedding ring.
I grabbed my flashlight that I keep on my nightstand, and ran down the hall from my room. It was my son's room. I opened the door, and found the same result. He had vanished. All that was left from him was his gold chain. Fearing the worst, I ran to my daughter's room. She was my baby girl, and I couldn't live without her.
Busting through her door, I wailed, "Lauren?!"
There was a response, "Daddy?" I looked to her bed, and felt relieved. She was sitting there, crying in her boyfriend's arms.
"I'm here Lauren. Stay in here. Do not go anywhere until I come back. Keep your phone close."
"Daddy, be careful." She responded, just like she had when she was younger. It broke my heart, but I relished it.
"I will baby girl. I love you."
"Love you too Daddy."
I ran out of the room, and went to my car. Thankfully I could see. Not caring that I was still in soiled boxers, I drove to the police department. Everyone that was there vanished. All that was in their regular spots were a watch, earring, a ring, keys, guns, and the worst of all, a kid's toy. I don't care what it would take; I would go to each of my "brother's" houses to see if anyone in their family survived.
I did what I said I would do. I went to everyone's house but one. This last house was going to be the one that broke my heart. It was the house of the officer that was the closest to me; his name was Danny.
Taking a deep breath, I went in. I was stealthy, only to see if I could hear anything. And I did. I heard whimpering. I followed it, and what I saw, relieved me. It was Danny. He was home, and he was safe. He was cradling his little boy, David, in his arms. I went close.
"Danny, it's Scott. Are you okay?" He nodded, but did the quiet sign.
"David and I are. My wife though, she vanished. What about you?"
"Lisa and Josh are gone, but Lauren and Derek are safe. Go to my house with David. I'll be there as soon as I can." He nodded and left after grabbing some of David's and his things. I continued to search for survivors.
I found only one other survivor. Her name is Andi. The funny thing is, I knew that Danny looked at her how I looked at Sierra. I was suddenly crushed. I realized that I didn't even go check on her to see if she was safe. I slammed my fist on the dashboard.
