~~Over Two Years Ago~~
Scott was sleeping late, seeing as how it was his first day off for the week. He was woken by the rapid ringing of his doorbell. Groaning, he gets up and goes to leave his bedroom. He quickly pulls on a white T-shirt to cover his torso up, and walks down the stairs. The doorbell hasn't stopped yet, and it seems as if whoever is ringing it was very impatient.
"I swear to God, if it's just a kid playing tricks on me I'm going to be pissed as all fuck." He grumbles, still half-asleep.
He opens the door and sees a frazzled Kate standing there. Hes confused and shocked. He only has talked to her a few times, and it was through Sierra.
"Kaitlin, why are you here?" He asks, trying to avoid yawning.
"I didn't know who to come to. Sierra told me if I have something seriously wrong I could come to you. My parents are working and I can't get ahold of her. I need to talk to someone. I'm sorry for bothering you." She rambles, pleading for help with soft eyes.
"You're not bothering me. I just woke up. Come in, it's a little cold out. Give me a second to get some coffee?" He motions to the couch in the living room, and steps back. He rubs the back of his neck and gives in to the yawn.
"Oh, Thank you!" Kate abruptly hugs him. "This means a lot." She widens her eyes and steps back. "Sorry, about that."
Scott shakes his head quickly. "It's uh fine. Don't worry about it kiddo." He awkwardly pats her back. "I'll be right back. I just need my coffee or I'll fall asleep on you." He doesn't realize the paper bag she has in her hand.
"Erm, where's your bathroom? I drank a lot of tea on the way." Kate asks embarrassed and nervous.
"Down the hall, second to last door, on the right." He says. He finally notices the bag as she takes it down the hall with her. " You can leave that in here you know."
"No." She replies before rushing to lock the door behind her.
Fifteen fast minutes go by, Scott feels something is up so he walks down the hall. He goes to knock on the door, but he hears crying coming from the other side."Kaitlin are you ok? Do you need help?" He asks worried.
The crying stops and Kate opens the door. Her face is wet from the tears. She has the bag in hand, "No."
"What's wrong? Talk to me." Instead of getting an answer she shoves the bag at him and goes to the living room and slinks herself onto the couch.
Scott follows and sits at the other end of the couch, moving her feet out of the way.He opens the bag and sees the contents. "Oh Kate, don't tell me-"
"Yea, four in the the course of 12 hours. From late last night into today." She sobs into the arm of the couch. "I don't know what to do, I've been 16 for less than a month." She sits up. "I'm a kid. I don't want this, but I have no choice. Help me?" She can't control her crying.
"I don't know what to say." Scott feels bent on finding out why she came to him, when she has other people. "Why did you come to me with this?"
"Sierra trusts you, so I do too. Also, I didn't have anyone else to go to." Kate exhales deeply, wiping the tears away. The negative thoughts flowed in, and she started bawling again.
Scott hugged her, and took her face in his hands, "You will be okay."
"No I won't. I'll be a horrible mother. I'm not ready for this." Kate complained, pulling her face away.
Scott thought for a moment. "Have you considered the other option?" The look she responds with makes him regret asking.
"No, I couldn't do that. It's wrong, and I don't have the money." Her eyes tremble. She wants to breakdown, but she holds herself up.
