Once more, (Y/n) found herself back in the town of Tortuga, grabbing a drink and watching as Gibbs 'interviewed' some men to get them to join the crew for the Black Pearl. Jack was sitting nearby, his compass in hand, repeatedly opening it and closing it angrily. The girl watching stood with a mega pint full of rum, gazing at the two.
"And what makes you think you're worthy to crew the Black Pearl?" Gibbs asked, feigning being skeptical.
"Truth be told, I've never sailed a day in me life. I figure I should get out, see the world while I'm still young." said a rather old man, making (Y/n) raise an eyebrow.
"You'll do. Make your mark. Next!"
Jack opened his compass and moved it around a bit before closing it harshly and shaking it.
"Me wife ran off with my dog and I'm drunk for a month and I don't give an ass rat's if I live or die." said the next man, who continued on with his one sentence.
"Perfect! Next!"
"I know what I want. I know what I want. I know what I want." Jack repeated to himself.
"Me have one arm and a bum leg." the next one summed up simply.
"It's the crow's-nest for you. Next!"
"I know. What. I. Want!" Jack repeated one last time, opening the compass, and seeing the arrow spin immediately towards (Y/n), who stood leaning against the pillar drinking her rum. Here, she looked more like a pirate than ever... and it was incredibly sexy to Jack. Snapping the compass shut, he pouted slightly, for he couldn't get the compass to point where he wanted it to go at this moment. Sure, he wanted her, but maybe later.
"Ever since I was a little lad, I've always wanted to sail the seas... forever..." the last one in line stated dreamily, causing (Y/n) to be just a tad uncomfortable.
"Sooner than you think. Sign the roster!"
"Thanks very much!"
"How we going?" Jack asked, his focus still on the damned compass.
"Well, including those four, that gives us... I'd say... about four." (Y/n) told him, pretending to think about it. Jack stuck his tongue out at her, and she laughed a bit, raising her mug to take a drink. He shook his compass once more as another man walked up to the table.
"And what's your story?" Gibbs asked him.
"My story? It's exactly the same as your story, just one chapter behind." said a familiar voice. "I chased a man across the seven seas. The pursuit cost me my crew, my commission, and my life."
"Oh, my God... James?" (Y/n) whispered, coming up next to Gibbs.
James Norrington stood there in front of them, but he was not the well put together proper man she saw last. His disheveled white wig sat atop his equally disheveled brown hair. His uniform was dirtied and ripped. He grabbed the bottle of rum from the table and took a swig.
"Commodore?" Gibbs asked in shock.
"No, not anymore. Weren't you listening?!" James hissed. He leaned down to Gibbs's level and said, "I nearly had you all off Tripoli. I would have, if not for the hurricane."
Jack, seeing who it was, took a nearby plant and covered himself with it.
Gibbs's face dropped as he said, "Lord... You didn't try to sail through it?"
"So do I make your crew or not?" James asked, and Gibbs slightly hesitated. "You haven't said where you're going? Somewhere nice?!" James threw the table up, causing both Gibbs and (Y/n) to shuffle back to avoid getting hit. The music stopped playing in the tavern as James sauntered through the crowd, rum bottle in hand. "So am I worthy to serve under Captain Jack Sparrow? Or should I just kill you now?" James pulled his pistol out and aimed it at Jack, who was currently attempting to sneak away via plant.
