It was Sweaty Sands at the break of dawn. Lil' Whip was opening the ice cream parlor when Comfy Chomps walked through the door, sitting down on the barstool.
"What's up Comfy? What are you doing here so early?" He asked, wiping the counter with a wet rag.
"Can I ask you something? I don't know what to do." Comfy returned, looking out the window.
"Is this about the 'Panda' girl? I already told you that you should talk to her, let her know what's going on." Lil' whip turned his full attention to Comfy. Comfy and Panda have been friends for a long time now ever since they met at the Hey Boo next to Holly Hedges when Shadows wandered the island. Since then they've hinted toward each other about their feelings but never act upon it.
"I've tried, trust me. I just never get a good opportunity." As soon as he said that Panda Team Leader walked through the door, covered in dirt with her panda head torn down the top in her hand. Comfy got a good look at her black long hair going down to her shoulders. She was very private of what she looked like, only sharing it with her closest friends. "P-Panda! What is going on? Are you okay.? Comfy went to her and took her mask and help her sit down.
"I'm fine. Just took a bit of a tumble, that's all." She explains that she fell down a hill when trying to be flashy with a shockwave grenade. "I heard you went here and I need some of your 'magic healing' you always say you have." She smiles, referring to his skill as a field medic. Truth is that he isn't very good at it, all he knows is the basics. She doesn't mind though as his company is calming and healing in its own. Lil' Whip gives Comfy his bandages and begins wrapping them around Panda's leg. She stands up and acts like nothing was just wrong.
"Looks like it worked, but you should be careful, the primal folk don't take kindly to strangers." Comfy said, putting his hand on her shoulder. She turns to him and wraps hers arms around him before pulling back and dragging him out of the parlor and onto the boardwalk. They start heading down the shoreline and go on a walk towards pleasant, where Panda lived.
"You know I always appreciate what you do for me, no one else cares as much as you do." Panda broke the silence, rubbing her arm. "I know it's your job to care, but why do you always take priority to me?" She asked.
"Because you're special. I don't want you to ever feel like you're alone. I care about you Panda, and whenever you're hurt it hurts me." Comfy said kicking the dirt ahead of him. She smirks and walks up to him.
"I always wanted to tell you, but I care about you too, like a lot." She blushes knowing she's not the "loving" type. Comfy looks at her and grabs her close.
"I take that as an 'I love you' I guess" he says in a joking way. She kisses his cheek before pulling away.
"I guess you can say that." She takes his hand and keeps walking home.
