This takes place when Jones is sent out to find the hunters for season 5.

Jones lands in the mud, he seemed to be in a jungle of some sort.

"This looks like the place" as he removed his bag and takes out his Pure-Portal Device. As he's getting ready he hears the big bushes around him begin to sway, making his unnerving surroundings a hint of fear. He stood up and stayed completely still. As the noises got louder and louder, the figure in the grass become bigger. Jones realized his mistake. "Please don't kill me!" He said as he cowardly put his hands up. The figure came out from the grass. It was Marigold, and she came to speak with him.

"Oh, Marigold, it's you. For a second I thought it was the alien dude with the crab face." He laughed it off. Marigold just frowned and made a look.

"What are you doing out here, Jones? I told you this place is off limits. You're lucky I showed up before the 'hunter' did." She said, her alluring voice always melted Jones heart. In his entire time at I.O., Marigold was cold as stone. He doesn't even remember if she has ever smiled once. He always had something for her, but for his own survival he's kept it to himself. Whenever she bosses him around, he actually enjoys it. He also loves trying to see how far he can push her, just to see what happens.

"Slone told me to get the best hunters and clearly one marked as 'Predator' would be a good one." He responded, barely trying to get a rise out of her.

"Ugh, you're so unbearable." She rolled her eyes.

"You know you enjoy it. Cmon, what could possibly happen?" As soon as Jones said this a blue bast of energy hits the dirt in front of him. He stumbles back as an invisible figure jumps from the tree onto the ground in from of them. The form reveals its self as the hunter Jones was sent to find. It clicks it's mouth as it reveals a pair of twin wrist knives attached to its arm. Marigold draws a golden dagger and begins to fight it.

"Is this your plan, Jones? To get us killed?" She said, trying to focus up and not get skewered.

"Sorry! Thought it would be less of a hassle!" Jones got up and ran to his bag and grabbed his portal gun. Marigold manages to knock the beast on the ground, letting Jones send it into the portal, dooming it to the Loop. Jones looks at her.

"We make a good team, huh?" He said. She rolled her eyes.

"You can barely lift a gun, I did everything." She turned her back to him. "However you did save me from getting my body diced up, so thanks, I guess." She turns back to him and gives him a glare. "Now you should probably head back to the Bridge, Slone doesn't want you to be-" Marigold is cut off from Jones grabbing her and pulling her into a hug. Her shock turns to anger, but quickly leaves her. She thought about pushing him off and kicking his face in, but she kinda liked it.

"I want to go with you." Jones said. "You're so awesome, you know that." He was practically worshipping her for her saving him. She gave him a slight smirk, the first time he's seen her smile.

"Alright alright, that's enough, WE should get back to the bridge." She corrected herself. Jones smiled and held out his gun, opening the portal back to the Bridge. She was about to walk through when Jones picked her up and put her on his shoulder. She was even surprised he could pick her up. She laughed as she looked at him. "You're really pushing it, huh?"

"I like pushing things, like buttons!" He said as the walked through. She melted at the adorable and completely out of context comment. Somehow a brick wall met with a sledgehammer, and it broke through. She had never felt this way in her life.

Sorry for the long breaks, I just haven't been coming up with good ideas for stories. Plus Fortnite chapter 3 is a blast. I'll try to speed it up in the near future!
