One Night's Steal

Chapter 9

Nachi was almost drunk as we left the cafe. I had to pull both our suitcases while he tried walking in a straight line. 

"The last one was very strong-g", he kept slurring as we walked.

"Ugh, one more word and I'll drop you here."

"Sorry, don't leave me alone, I'll be-e.....", he was slurring again, "Lonely."

"Solo trips are lonely, you have only yourself for company."

"I know but now I found a good company and I don't be lonely anymore."

Nachi's face was flushed red, he was clearly drunk but he was telling the truth.

"How long have been lonely for?"

"It has been a long time, I never thought my heart will flutter again. Europe should help me revive it."

For a moment I felt like he was talking about me but it would be too soon, right?

"Will you continue the one night's steal we started in Amsterdam?", he addressed the elephant in the room.

"The chocolate factory is just around the corner!", I changed the topic swiftly. 

Nachi declined the tour, he felt sleepy so he offered to look after our bags. I felt like I was transported to the movie Charlie and the chocolate factory as I walked around watching the process. The tour ended with chocolate tasting, they were indeed one of the best chocolates I had ever tasted. 

"Here.", I offered some of the free sample.

Nachi looked at me shocked, "Take it before I change my mind."

He grabbed them and started eating happily, "Are you sober now?"

He just nodded, "Cat got your tongue?"

"No, my throat hurts."

"Lets buy some hot chocolate on the way to the train station."

We walked back to the city center to buy souvenirs and chocolates. I got him some hot chocolate before taking a tram to the train station. 

"So, this is it, isn't it?", he asked clutching our suitcases a tad bit tightly.

"We can end it here, if you want...", I was suppressing a smile.

"You headed to Berlin and me to Salzburg."

"Do you want to come to Berlin?"

"It would be great but no, I prefer black forest and castles."

"Okay."

A silence prevailed over as we watched the schedule change on the departure board.

"Do you want to come to Salzburg with me?"

I smiled at him, "I thought you would never ask."

"What?! Is it a yes?"

"As long as we check into a hotel the first thing when we reach there I'm in."

"Yes! Lets go get the tickets."

"I need a good bath."

We walked to the ticket counter and found that we'll have a layover at Luxembourg. We'll have to take a bus from there to Saarbrucken and then another train to Salzburg. I glared at Nachi while the person explained it.

"We'll take a B&B in Luxembourg.", he assured me.

"Thank you."

We took the tickets and walked to the station for our train.
