PHYSICAL;

Dasypodoas are shapeshifters, capable of both human and supernatural form. In human form, they can look like any normal human, with any eye, hair and skin colour.

When transforming, their eyes glow a violet purple. They grow small upper fangs and large and powerful rounded claws on their hands. A flat and thin scale-looking grey armour starts to covers them entirely on their back (back of their legs, back of their arms, their spine, etc). This armour also covers the top half of their face like a mask - leaving the bottom half exposed, and covers their head and hair; linking their head to their shoulders - it essentially looks like they're wearing a hood (from a jacket) of armour. They also gain small pointed ears and their hair turns white.

ABOUT;

• Dermal Armour;

Can generate an innate armour as a part of their body, which is resistant to attacks, harm or pain, and temperature extremes. This scale-like armour is bullet, cold, electricity and fire proof. Only the claws of another Dasypodoa can penetrate their armour.

• Scent Blocking;

These creatures can also block their scent that others may use to track them. This means that Werewolves and other potential predators cannot track them by scent.

• Sharp Claws;

Can retract large razor-sharp claws. Sharper than any other known shapeshifter, their claws can cut through mostly anything (including metals and thick substances, and also including shells of other Dasypodoas.

These claws' rounded shape also allow for easy and quick burrowing or digging.

• Disease Immunity;

Their respiratory system is incredibly high functioning & therefore allows these creatures to build up immunities to any diseases.

• Enhanced Healing;

Like most shifters, Dasypodoa's have enhanced healing, meaning they can survive most small injuries.

• Enhanced Smell;

Can detect specific persons, objects, substances or even places, locate their origin, and track targets with nothing but their nose. Some may even be able to detect lying, sicknesses, or tumors by which hormones/smells a target excretes.

Some may also be able to detect emotions through pheromones, or detect lies by detecting chemicals released during a lie through scent.

• Internal Shield;

Dasypodoas are unique in the sense that they're the only shifters with the ability to revert back to the way they were before they become supernatural. This has been referred to as an 'internal shield' and is a defense mechanism against predators.

They can essentially put up an internal shield, blocking their supernatural abilities. This could come in handy if someone wanted proof that they weren't supernatural (e.g they won't heal anymore causing people to think they're normal).

• Full Armadillo Transformation;

More powerful Dasypodoas can fully shift into an Armadillo - a small mammal with a thick armoured back. Shapeshifting into this form allows them to squeeze through small places & hide better from predators. This can also allow them to move faster through transforming into a ball-shape.

• Fangs;

Like majority of shifters, they gain fangs - however they are quite small and do not possess the same sharpness/strength of fangs of creatures like Werewolves.

They are mainly for show - to scare off predators.

WEAKNESSES;

• Bad Eyesight

• Attacking from the front

• Mountain Ash

• Fire, Electricity & Temperature extremes - Only in areas of no armor. So if they're in their human form, or  in places their supernatural form doesn't have armour (anywhere on the front side of their body)

• Decapitation

• When using their 'internal shield', they fully revert back to their human state and therefore they're susceptible to greater damage. They cannot heal, smell like they could supernaturally, and they cannot generate their armour - until they take this internal shield down.

• Lunar Eclipse

BEHAVIOUR;

• Do not travel in packs or groups.

• Can only be created (by Werewolf bites) - their gene not being strong enough to be passed down generations.

• Due to the tough skin on their back giving them protection from harm, their fighting styles often consist of multiple flips or somersaults. They're also usually creatures of defense rather than attack.

• Do not trust easily; skiddish. They are not an immediate danger to others as they're not as aggressive or out of control - however they are often associated with manipulation and being 'survivalists' in the sense that they'd do anything to live.

NOTES;

» Due to a Dasypodoa's ability to block their own supernatural abilities for as long as they'd like, it has been theorised that this creature could be one of the only known 'cures' for being bitten - however due to the fact they are quite uncommonly seen, this has not been proven.

» With their appearance resembling depictions of Elves, it was theorised that they might have been inspiration for the Elf myth.

» They are creatures of the moon, and like Werewolves, grow stronger with the full moon.

» Dasypodoa's were originally named 'Werearmadillos', however, this name was later changed for unknown reasons.

» Being creatures of the moon means that full moons effect them as well. However, where it makes predators like Werewolves or Werejaguars more aggressive, it makes Dasypodoas more skiddish and paranoid.
