The Slayer walks towards the pearly gates with Thessa and Gar in tow. They were an eyesore within the queue as they had no carriage, steed or servants. The majority glared at them with superiority, not that it wasn't to be expected since the party consisted of a mid-tier adventurer - who was comparable to a low grade Royal Knight - a huntress who appears to not have any etiquette and a Goliath with a rag over him.
At the gate, there was a small squad of guards who each had some expensive wears on them. The party approached them as one of them stopped them,"Halt! What's your business here?"
One of the guards walked up to them in a passive manner. The only thing separating the party from investigating the city was this unfortunate guard.
"I'm here to see one of the nobles."
Gar spoke up, bringing up his previous request from the noble who wanted to assassinate the Slayer. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a parchment. He opened it up and revealed some writing, though it was pointless to attempt to read it - a different language.
The guard took it and read the writing, leaving a few moments pass before he nodded,"Let then pass!"
He returned the scroll and nodded to the party.
Walking through to the other side was blinding. Everywhere in sight had some sort of gold accessories, pearly walls or silver dressings. To put it simply, it was a dragons hoard made into buildings.
Buildings ranged from two-story clay boxes to brick and stone mansions; the marketplace was streamed with many exotics which were all overly priced, according to the others, and the people were plentiful. On each person was at least some sort of jewellery: gold necklaces, silver rings, anything that shined was bound to be somewhere on them. Every single one. Stacked and loaded with riches that would make onlookers go blind. The Slayer walked around with many eyes on him. The cloak he wore made things worse by the minute. All onlookers stared in disgust but not without curiosity - it was a rare sight to see someone of his stature.
"So? Where to?" Thessa spoke to Gar as he packed the parchemnt back inot his satchel.
"I met the noble at a nearby building which is used for freelancing adventurers. He told me that I'd meet him there again when the job was done." Gar quickly explained as they made way throughout the city.
"But before we head there, I need to get a couple of things done. Do you mind?"
The Slayer shook his head as Gar took point and lead them across the city. He approached a builing with a quill and parchment sign: chances are is it would be a post office. He entered with Thessa, but the Slayer remained outside since he couldn't enter the doorway. He stationed himself next to the doorway and looked at the ever-flowing corwd of snobs.
{I am sensing some agitation from you, Slayer.}
Of course. I'm not so comfortable with a place like this. If they have money, they could easily bribe many people to look away-?!
His thought was interrupted as he saw a commotion in the centre of the crowd. A young pair, looking only to be in their eraly teens, were on the ground with bruises and cuts all across theri visible skin. One was a boy who appeared to take most of the beating whilst protecting the other one whom appeared to be a small girl. The Slayer concluded that these two were close, probably family.
"You insolent child! Guards! There is a little thief over here!"
A small squad of guards come by and see what the situation was.
"What's the problem here? Ah...these two being pests again?"
The guard says as he kicks the boy, causing him to kneel.
