Avery had been keeping awake but just barely. As she began to drift off each time, a slap to the face would awaken her.

----mk we go againnn. but im so pissed rn bc i swear i brought my aripods but i cant fine them. bro and the actual frick if already have to pee.------

Her vision was still darkness and every sound she heard still sent agonizing wves of pain through her head.

She could hear the door open and shut, but just from the feeling in the air she could tell Malice had entered the room. "Welcome back, Nora. How was your short break?"

"Quite relaxing, actually. It definitely helped clear my thoughts and let me focus on my true goal at this place." Nora responded.

"Is that so? I hope you no longer feel sorry for Avery anymore, as well." She clapped her hands together, pacing a few steps.

"Oh of course not, ma'am. Why would I feel sorry for a scumbag, traitor like her. I even apologize for doubting you in the first place." Nora's voice was a little too happy for Avery's liking.

"Excellent! So glad you finally came to your senses. Unlucky news for Avery though, Griffin didn't respond to our last email. You know what this means? It means he will be given one final chance to respond, and if he doesn't? We will kill you and then your body at his door so he can see what hes done." Her words were followed by a menacing laugh.

Avery just wanted it to all be over. She didn't care if she was killed at this exact moment. She just wanted the pain to be gone.

"I've got a meeting to attend now, down the hallway. Nora, you will be watching over Avery for the time being. I'll see you again in an hour tops." The clicking of her heels sounded out of the door and now it was just Avery and Nora.

A pair of footsteps approached her causing her to tense up, what she expected was a hit, but what she received was a gentle cloth being pushed to the wounds on her face.

"Avery, can you hear me?" Nora had made sure to keep her voice relatively quiet so that no suspicions were made.

Blood drooled from her lip as she opened up her mouth to speak. "Mhm, very clearly. Everything hurts Nora. Can you please just kill me already, I want the pain to be over with." She begged.

Nora sighed, gently placing her hand on Avery's cheek. "I won't kill you. You got this, you only have to stay awake for another hour or so. Promise?"

Avery nodded but was still confused. "Why?"

Nora's voice had dropped to an even lower whisper. "Griffin is gathering a group of people to come rescue you."

Griffin?

"Mm, I want Griff.." Her words began to slur.

"I know, I know. Just relax for now, he will be here soon." Nora responded as she continued to clean up Avery's cuts.

"If I don't make it, can you tell Griffin I love him."

"You will tell him that yourself." Nora promised, giving Avery some sort of comfort.

"I'm tired.." Avery mumbled.

"No, not now. You aren't in the best shape right now, and I can't have you dead before Griffin arrives. I'd get into so much trouble." She tried to hide her concern as Avery's face sunk into her hand.

Nora gently slapped the opposite cheek and Avery hissed in pain. She needed to keep her awake.

"Sorry, just a little longer." Nora continued to rub off the blood.
