The mission was for us to join the extraction team. It was something about a boat off course that had been hijacked by pirates. This should be fun. The team gathered in a group to listen to Rumlow go over important points.
"Target is a mobile satellite launch platform. The Lamerian Star. They were sending up their last pay load when pirates took them 93 minutes ago." Rumlow explained.
"Any demands?" Steve asked him.
"Billion and a half." Rumlow answered.
"Why so steep?" He questioned Rumlow again.
"Because it's Shield's" he said simply.
"So, it's not off course. It's trespassing." Steve said turning to look at Nat.
"I'm sure they have a good reason." She said simply as she shrugged.
"Yea, I'm getting a little tired of being Fury's janitor." Steve grumbled.
"Relax. It's not that complicated." Nat said rolling her eyes at him.
Steve turned back to Rumlow.
"How many pirates?" He asked crossing his arms over his chest.
"Twenty five. Top mercs lead by this guy." Rumlow paused to pull up a man's image on the screen.
"George Batroc" he said once we all could see the photo.
"Ex DGSE. He's at the top of interpol's red notice. Before the French demobilized him he had 36 kill missions. He's got a rep for maximum casualties." Rumlow explained.
"Hostages?" Steve said moving the conversation on.
"Mostly techs. One officer." Rumlow paused.
He pulled up another photo.
"Jasper Sitwell" Rumlow pointed to the photo.
"What's Sitwell doing on a launch ship?" Steve asked curiously more to himself.
"Alright, I'm gonna sweep the deck and find Batroc. Nat kill the engines and wait for instructions. Rumlow you sweep and find the hostages. Get them to the life pods and get them out. Will, you're with me." Steve ordered.
"Strike, you heard the Captain. Gear up." Rumlow shouted to his team.
Steve, Nat, and I went off to our own little area. We didn't have to "gear up" since we were already ready to go. I sat next to Nat as Steve paced.
"Secure channel seven" Steve said quietly.
"Seven secure" Nat answered back.
"Do anything fun Saturday night?" Nat asked Steve as she jumped to her feet.
"Well, all the guys from my Barber Shop Quartet are dead. So, no, not really." Steve smirked at me.
I stood up just so I could effectively smack his shoulder for being such a smart ass.
"We've mostly been doing reading and research on the weekends." I told Nat.
"Coming up on the drop zone Captain." The pilot announced over head.
Steve quickly stepped over to the bay door. He hit the button with his hand making it start to open.
"You know if you ask Christin out from statistics she'd probably say yes." Nat spoke her voice getting louder to go against the howling wind.
"That's why I don't ask." Steve shouted.
He moved to ready himself for his jump.
"Too scared or too shy" Nat shouted.
