Cones POV
We all piled into Deryck's car and we drove off to the pizza place Stevo recommended. It was amazing. After that we decided to get the Shamrock Shakes we wanted before. I was debating whether to ask Charlie if she wanted one. I know how she hates McDonald's but I am most likely her father and dad or not, it would be rude not to. So I asked her, "Do you want one?"
She replied, "I'm gonna sound like a hypocrite, but yes I would. And before any of you say anything, those are the only things I like from here and I was not gonna have that for dinner." She told us and everyone laughed. I really hope she is my daughter. That way I can report her family and I'll be her father so it'll make her becoming part of my family a whole lot easier. Charlie McCaslin. That had a nice ring to it.
Somehow I was the one who was nominated to get them because we really don't like going through drive-throughs for some reason. And I guess it didn't go too well for D the last time so I was the next choiceCharlie's POV
Cone had just gone in to get the shakes and the conversation had pretty much died off. When it got too boring, I pulled out my iPod and started playing Fall Out Bird, softly humming along to the background music.
"What are you playing?" I turned around and saw Stevo pointing at my iPod.
"Oh just Fall Out Bird" I responded, not expecting them to know what I was talking about.
"Fall Out Bird. Isn't that the one that plays Fall Out Boy music? Turn that shit up!" He replied excitedly.
"Ok. Is that okay with everyone?" I asked, not wanting to be annoying.
"Of course! We love FOB!" Deryck replied so I took out my headphones and turned the volume up all the way, letting Patrick Stump's voice fill the car. I couldn't help but smile when Deryck's voice joined his. I couldn't help but join in and pretty soon everyone was soon singing along. We were still singing when Cone entered the car and started singing along, not questioning anything. The moment was the best I've had in a very long time.Cones POV
When I got back to the car, Charlie was playing Fall Out Bird and the background music was playing and Deryck, Charlie, Stevo, and even Brown Tom were singing along. I couldn't help but join in. Once I sat down, Deryck sped off to the house/studio thing we were currently residing at, not wanting to waste any time. As soon as we got in, I put the shakes down and quickly backed out of the way before everyone started reaching for them. Once everyone got theirs, we all sat down, waiting for someone to talk. I decided to.
"So. Charlie. You wanna tell us about yourself. You told us your story, but I want to know about YOU."
She seemed a bit shy at first but soon opened up to us.
"Well I lived about an hour away from here" she started off with, putting emphasis on "lived". "I like Starbucks and I play volleyball and I run a lot. I like hockey and wish I could play. I dress like a guy a lot and people mistake me for a guy a lot also because of my short hair. Not that I mind though. I skate in my free time. I only know how to ride, I can't do any tricks or anything like that. It makes a rad mode of transportation though. I play flute, violin, and just started bass. I draw, but not too well, I couldn't exactly get lessons. I'm pretty good at math, I can't write at all. I didn't have any friends where I used to live, the only reason I didn't get bullied or beat up was because I was the best volleyball player and they kinda needed me. And that's about all there is to my life." She finished and went back to eating/drinking her shake while everyone processed what she said.
"Do you wanna show us what you know on violin and flute? I want to see how good you are." Deryck told her.
"Um sure. Do you have the instruments here?" She replied uncertainly.
"Of course! You never know what you might need for a song." Deryck told her.
After we finished eating, we went to the music room. She went to the violin first and asked for a tuner, to which Deryck tossed her the first working one he found. After about two minutes of tuning, she played a few quick scales and then started to play. She was absolutely amazing and judging by the looks on the other guys, they had similar thoughts. After finishing, she didn't hesitate or say anything, just went over to a flute that, judging from the look of relief on her face, was the type that she was used to.
After tuning, she turned to us and told us that she was going to do jazz improv on the Bb blues scale. Once she started, we realized that she was even better on the flute than she was on violin. She could play all different styles of music which was even better.
When she finally turned around and saw us standing there, her eyes immediately brightened.
"I really wished I knew more instruments but I was only allowed to play violin and flute for some reason. I started bass because it's really quiet when it's not plugged in so I couldn't disturb anyone." She informed us.
"It's okay, I'm sure we're all willing to teach you each of our instruments" Deryck said and we all nodded in agreement.
"Well it's getting a bit late, we should probably get you settled in so you can crash whenever you feel like it." I told her.
We led her to the guest room in the house that hopefully, after tomorrow, wouldn't be the guest house, at least until after we were done recording. When we led her to the room, she was shocked at the size of it.
"It's... it's so big! Thank you so much!" She told us.Charlie's POV
THE ROOM IS SO BIG was the only thought running through my head once I entered the room. But I guess anything looks big to you when your old room is one step away from being the cupboard under the stairs from Harry Potter. The band chuckled and left. I soon started emptying everything on the bed. I sorted through all my clothes and put them in the dresser. I then put my toiletries in the adjoining bathroom. I put the money in a wallet that I forgot I had and that I packed at the last minute and put the wallet in my pocket. I found an outlet and plugged my iPod charger in. I put my skateboard along with my helmet in the corner of the room. As soon as I finished that, I walked out to where all the other guys were hanging out in which I assumed was the living room area with my ipod."Hey Charlie!" Stevo greeted me.
"Hi Stevo! Does this place have wifi?" I asked, adressing everyone now, not sure if I was being rude or not.
"Um yeah, come here I'll put it in for you" Deryck patted a spot next to him. "Wow, that sounded very wrong, I didn't mean it like that, I swear!"
"Deryck! Getcha mind outta the gutter! We know you didn't mean it like that" Cone said, laughing hysterically along with everyone else.
I walked over to him and sat down, opening the wifi tab under "settings". He selected the one entilted "Pretty Fly For A Wifi" and typed in the password. I couldn't resist, so I started singing, "And all the girlies say I'm pretty fly for a wifi" and everyone started laughing again.
As soon as the wifi came on, I got a notification about a message from my father. He got me an ipod so we could communicate over wifi and we wouldnt have to pay a cell phone bill for me.
It said, "Where the fuck are you get back here right this instant or I swear to god I'll make sure you wish you weren't born from those filthy teenagers who didn't even want you, you broken condom"
"Ah fuck," I muttered uder my breath, causing Deryck to ask me what was wrong. I showed him the message and he took the ipod to respond to that dick who calls himself my dad but is only a step father. Deryck then told me to stand next to Cone and he took a picture of us together. I then rushed back to see what he was typing. It said, "Oh you mean this filthy teenager and broken condom? I find it funny how you hate her and abuse her and yet you want her back. Dont you have a wife to satisfy your sex drive? If I ever see another message to Charlie from you, I swear to god a bunch of middle aged men will come to your doorstep and each one will personally beat the shit out of you, one at a time. Got that fucker?"
Deryck asked me if that was appropriate to send to him and I told him how perfect that was.
By that time, everyone was looking at us, wondering what the hell was going on, so I just read the two messages out to everyone. When I finished everyone had a look of shock on their faces for a second before hysterically laughing at Deryck's response.
Cone sat next to me and put a protective arm around me, and reassuringly said, "It's okay, you have us now, you're safe now" over and over. I could definately get used to this new family.
A/N: I apoligize for my inability to write. Idek why I try. Oh well, I hope you enjoyed the chapter!
