Charlie's POV
After we went to the mall, I promised that I would five them a tour of my town. In my opinion, my town didn't have much going on, but they insisted. I think that they just didn't want to be at the studio all the time.
"So this is the elementary school I went to," I explained as we passed my old school, Brookside Elementary. "There's not an actual brook there so I don't know why it's called that. Maybe there was one there once upon a time? I honestly don't know" I informed them. We didn't stay too long there because school was in session for them because they had a day off this year from a pipe bursting that the other schools in the district didn't have. Also, the town hall informed the middle school that I wasn't under the "protection" of my adoptive parents anymore, so I technically wasn't enrolled in my middle school anymore. That meant that I could chill in the studio/house thing until the recording was done and we all went back up to Canada to put the finishing touches on the album. Everyone predicted that we would be done right before summer break started, so I didn't start school until next fall. The band was also playing Warped al summer, so they decided it would be nice if I could go, which I immeditaly agreed to.
A few minutes later, we arrived at my old middle school, St. Paul's. I explained to everyone, "My stupid adoptive parents thought that I was a bad example for everyone and decided that it would be a good idea to send me to Catholic school, which it wasn't. I hated everyone there except for Katie and didn't agree with the religion. Needless to say, I didn't belong there, but I stayed there because I was smart enough to keep my mouth shut about my opinions and views. The only person who knew everything was Katie and she agreed with me. Everyone just thought I was a punk, emo, loser kid who hated everyone and everything. I just went along with it because it was easier than telling everyone what I thought and getting kicked out and beat even more."
They just seemed surprised when I looked back at them. "Do you need to pick up anything from here that you might need in the future, Charlie?" Cone asked me as we slowed to a stop in front of the currently vacant private school.
"Well, I don't absolutely NEED it, but I would like to take one of my art projects with me. The town hall did unlock the school in case I needed to get something, right?"
"Yeah. You wanna give us a tour? We could come in with you" Cone said as he parked the car.
"Ok, so this is the seventh grade wing by the entrance up those stairs and it ends all the way down that hallway" I said as I pointed opposite of the stairwell. "There are a few other rooms down this way too" I told them as I walked down the hallway. "This first room on the right is the office, the second door is a closet, the third door is the nurses office, and the fourth one is the band room. I need to get my instruments and music out, so you can look around and stuff, just don't break anything." I told them with a small laugh because they were musicians and they wouldn't break someone else's instruments.
Of course, Stevo was the first one to hop onto the drum set, Tom started playing piano, Cone found the basses and cellos and started playing upright bass and Deryck started playing the auxiliary percussion. I then joined in on flute. It sounded amazing but it wasn't together and lacked every element of music except the instruments but after a while, it started to come together and sound good. I hoped the cameras that were installed in every room had audio. After playing for a while, we decided to stop and continue the tour of the school. I showed them where I had all of my classes last year and we moved on.
"Right here is the library and that's where my art project is currently on display" I told them as we turned the corner and I went in to get my work.
"Woah, that's amazing!" They all commented on the skateboard I made for my pop art project. They hadn't even seen the back yet which was the best part. It was red and in black lettering, it had Green printed at the top and Day on the bottom written in the 21st Century Breakdown font. In the middle, it had the black heart grenade from American Idiot. I flipped it over and showed them the back.
"Holy shit! You did all of that by hand?!" Cone asked in surprise, expressing what everyone was thinking.
"Well I made stencils by hand, and traced them on here, so I guess you could say that. But I had to get one of my classmates to cut for me because I suck at that." I said, like it was no big deal, although I was glowing inside. Everyone liked how it came out, but no one reacted like this. I had never felt so proud.
"Wow it's so good! It must have taken you forever!" They said and we continued our tour.
"So this is the old gym and on the side with the stage, is the boys locker room. On this side, is the girls locker room" I told them and I went to get my lock and gym clothes. I came back about a minute or so later. I noticed that everything was all set up for hockey. Without saying anything, we all got into teams, and since there was an odd number, we nominated Tom to be ref. the teams were me and Stevo and Cone and Deryck. Since it was only 2v2, there was no positions and we just started playing. You think the team with more Canadians would win, but me and Stevo creamed them. I was very offensive in hockey and would often get yelled at for being too aggressive.
"Man, that was awesome!" I said, highfiving Stevo.
Lucky for me, the new gym was set up for volleyball and we played that next. We decided Cone would be the next ref and the new teams were me and Deryck and Tom and Stevo. I let them start but my team still ended up winning 21-0. We found the closet door unlocked and decided to play basketball. The teams were me and Cone and Tom and Deryck. Stevo was the ref. The game was very close, but my team won again because I wasn't as bad as I thought at basketball and Cone is basically six feet. We decided on soccer next and Deryck was ref. The teams were me and Tom and Steve and Cone. Once again, my team won.
"Damn, is there any sport you can't do" Deryck asked me with a laugh.
"I'm not very good at football, but other than that, not really" I said with a shrug. And we continued with the tour. We passed every room that wasn't a classroom by now, so I was basically showing where I had each class. We eventually made it to my locker which I opened with no problem. I took out the spare earbuds I kept in there. I also took out the three sweatshirts I had stuffed in the bottom. I then closed my locker.
"Hey, want to piss off a lot of eighth graders?" I asked with a mischievous grin.
"Hell yes" Stevo said "What's the plan?"
"Well, the lockers that look like mine either have a light blue or black lock. The ones with blue locks are older and they open every time unless the lock is all scrambled. The ones with black locks already do it automatically so don't worry about those. Just spin the light blue locks and everyone who is used to just opening their locker will have to enter their combination when they come back. I know it may not sound like much, but they hate when that happens." To prove my point, I opened a random one with a blue lock and it opened with no issue.
We then went around, spinning all the blue locks and decided that we had enough of this school and we left. We then went to my favorite diner for dinner after we finished the tour of my town. I ordered what I usually got which was a chocolate milkshake and a pizza burger. As usual, it was amazing. With satisfied appetites, we went back to the studio and hung out for the rest of the night.
