"Why- is- it- so- kriffing- HOT!!'' Trayden screams for the twentieth time in a row. Domi shrugs, unfazed by the sweltering heat. Trayden glares at us, left eye twitching. "But-" He starts. "Nope. Not another peep out of you." I tut, patting his sweaty brown hair.
"But why Mustafar? What about Naboo? Or even Bespin!" He whines, sitting on a rock and screeching when a spray of lava nearly cooks him. I smile and reveal a large, black castle around the bend. They stare in awe at the towering structure, jaws agape. I look to the left and see a familiar ledge.
"Hey, I think I can see the high ground from here!" ( A.N: actual dialogue from my second playthrough of Vader Immortal.) I say excitedly, trying to break the heavy cloud over the gang. It works, my childish friends snickering over my joke.
We climb the cliffside, Zoe hovering beside us smugly. I grab the edge of the hangar door with one arm, and motion for my droid to open the large doors. Once we're in, we stare at the big, empty hangar.
"For the love of Skywalker, this place is creepy," Domi says, shuddering. Aria, in her usual fashion, stays quiet, observant and cautious. I lift her n my shoulders and decide to put on a bit of a show. I lift my hand into the air, and hundreds of small, glimmering sparks fill the room, warm to the touch. Aria gazes in wonder at the spectacle.
We pass the platform where I sent Admiral Carius plummeting to his death, and the elevator where-. I pause, breath hitching in my throat, Zoe looking at me knowingly. This is where I sent the Priestess to her death, her life force consumed by the Aeon Engine. Once we reach the elevator, I press the top button and we ascend, the dust in the machine swirling around us.
"Ascendant Dust." Trayden breathes, holding out his hand. I look at him. "Excuse me?" He smiles. "It's an old myth my people used to tell. When a group of intrepid adventurers like ourselves find ourselves in a situation like this, we call it Ascendant Dust." I cock an eyebrow.
"Why?" Domi asks curiously. " Because, we're all specks of dust in this universe, but we're ascending up to greatness." He explains, raising his arms up dramatically. We all huddle close together, whispering meaningless things to pass the time. The doors open, and a familiar, comforting presence surrounds me.
"How did this happen? This floor was destroyed..." I say to no one. The silence overwhelms me, and I turn around to look at my friends, and to my horror, they're lying unconscious on the ground. I spin around to see Kylo Ren standing there, mask on a lightsaber ignited.
"You son of a-" I start grabbing my saber. He lifts his hand, and I feel myself losing consciousness.
"Nice to see you again." He taunts I crumple to the ground.
This was a really short chapter, but I wanted one out tonight.
