GABRIELLA POV
after another night in pain i woke up in the arms of maiya. wait wait i slept? she looked peaceful and i didn't wanna wake her up. i mean all she does is worry about me and my siblings. when my dad needs her to babysit us she's always there. never complained once so i decided to do a nice thing. i slowly got off the bed and went downstairs.
even if i'm 10 my dad always told me to help mom with stuff around the house so when my mom wasn't paying attention i was always watching her cook food and the one thing she cooked that we loved was her special pancakes. so i grabbed the pancake mix and did everything i needed to do.
i grabbed the pan from the bottom drawer and put the oil that was in the blue container then spread it on the pan. i grabbed butter and did the same. i took the container where the pancake mix was at and put a good amount then started making the special pancakes. they might not be as perfect but i'm trying.
*10 minutes later*
gaby: ahh all done
my siblings ran down the stairs smelling the food i just made.
samuel: now you wanna be down here
i looked down.
gaby: you act as if you don't miss mateo! jeez samuel when are you ever going to get through your small head that maybe sometimes people are t happy all the time!
i pushed past him running to my room and slamming my door.
*downstairs*
isabella: really samuel you always have to open your mouth!
she shouted at me. isaiah looked at him.
isaiah: what is your problem! your always mean to gaby like she isn't going through stuff! did you know that mateo helps her when she's gets bullied! yeah she gets bullied!
now samuel was feeling guilty. isaiah stomped all the way upstairs and opened his sister room.
isabella: you don't deserve the type of sister you have man
she said shaking her head looking at samuel.
samuel: i didn't know!
he pleaded trying to get her on his side.
isabella: you didn't know?! it's obvious samuel! man you think your smart but you are just like the rest of us! BROKEN!
before she went up her room isabella grabbed 2 pancakes then left.
samuel: i'm hungry
really samuel? didn't realize what just happened.
*back to gabriella*
i heard the door open. i didn't even bother turning around i just stared at the window hoping to get a call from my dad or mom saying to come visit mateo that he's awake and happy. instead i felt isaiah sit down and put his arm around my shoulder staring at the window with me.
gaby: you miss him
i questioned turning my face to him then back at the window.
isaiah: everyday but i know he's getting better
it's been 1 week and i can't even go a day without mateo.
gaby: i wonder what's going on at the hospital
he shrugged his shoulders and we both just stared outside.
isaiah: where's tía maiya
he asked.
gaby: still sleeping i made breakfast if you wanna go eat
i told him. isaiah just shook his head "no".
isaiah: it's better if i stay with you sis
even if we are 10 years old we already the know the world is a horrible place and that's sad.
that's when our tía burst through the door. we jumped and turned around fast.
maiya: you guys get ready now!
she said smiling. i stood up fast.
gaby: what?
isaiah stood up next to me.
maiya: it's a surprise
and with that she left the door leaving me and isaiah confused.
