Prologue

"The one I wanted wasn't the one who deserved me." 

RYLEE POV

I was waiting for my flight to go back to Manila. I was hesitant to go, but I needed to. "Calling the attention on flight 3*** to Manila. Please proceed to gate 3 immediately." I stood up and naglakad na papunta ron.



While waiting for the plane to start. I decided to sleep since ilang oras lang ang tulog ko bago nagpunta sa airport.



After the long flight, here we are back here in Manila. Hinihintay ko lang na lumabas ang maleta ko and already called someone para magpasundo.



Since that day, di na ako nag attempt pa ulit na mag drive.



"Ryyyyy!!! HERE!!!" sigaw ng matinis na boses pagkalabas ko ng arrival area.



Janna, my best friend siya lang ang my alam na uuwi ako ngayon dito.



Yumakap agad siya ng makalapit na ako. We just said our hellos to each other bago niya ako iginaya papunta sa kotse niya.



"Wow, ha, after three years of not communicating with me, nagparamdam ka rin and ginulat mo pa ako na uuwi ka pala rito." Janna said with her paawa voice.



"I'm sorry okay? and sinabi ko naman yung reason kung bakit? love you, best friend." I said and clung unto her hand.



"Yeah, yeah, love you too. Naku talaga! mabuti nalang love kita kaya di kita masabunutan!" sabi niya naman tsaka nagstart ng mag drive.



We talk a lot about what happened nung mga panahon na nawala ako. and I realize na andami ko palang namiss na mga events.



"Are you staying for good na ba?" she asked me nung nag stop over kami rito sa Jollibee. "Depends on the situation, and baka ayaw na rin akong paalisin ni kuya since last time di niya lang talaga ako napigilan."



They know how much I hate coming back here after a long time. I was in so much pain nung umalis ako. But now, I needed to be back here again and face that pain in my past so that I could move forward as my Kuya told me.



Nakarating rin kami dito sa hotel na naka book sa pangalan ni kuya since ayaw niyang malaman ng iba na nakabalik na ako.



"hey, pupunta ka ba bukas?". I faintly smiled at her and said "Yup, I needed to."



"Sa tagal mong nawala, sure ako na magugulat talaga sila." sabi niya ng nakangiti.



I hope so.



FLASHBACK



I was happily driving papunta sa condo unit ni Nathan, since I'll be surprising him sa aming 1st anniversary as a couple.



I cook his favorite food na adobo, and he always requested it.



I have played music muna since masyadong traffic. After the long drive ay papasok na ako sa parking lot ng building ni Nathan.



I didn't bother to call or text him today since I was preparing to surprise him.



I got all the things out sa trunk ng sasakyan ng tumawag si kuya. He has been my stepbrother since I knew that I was adopted last year.



"Yes, Kuya?" answering the call.



"Saan ka?" sagot niya. Binaba ko muna ang mga gamit at tsaka sinagot siya. "Papunta ng condo ni Nathan. why?".



"Nothing, Are you gonna sleep over there?".



"Hmm... Maybe kuya...I'll be there tomorrow, I promise!" tinaas ko pa talaga ang kamay ko kahit na di niya naman makita.



"All right, just asking... Take care," he said while laughing.



Naglakad na ulit ako papunta sa elevator after the call, and I already carried everything on my hands.



Nang nakarating sa floor kung saan ang condo unit ni Nathan ay nakaramdam ako ng kaba. I just fade away the thoughts on my head and smile while walking to his condo.



Ibinaba ko muna ang mga dala ko and press the bell. A couple of rings and no one was opening the door. So, kinuha ko ang phone to call him, and no one was answering also.



I got worried so nag decide na ako pumasok since alam ko naman ang code niya.



I was planning not to enter it kanina kasi. I'll be surprising him, but I think he's sleeping since no one was answering and no one opened the door.



Nilagay ko muna sa kitchen ang mga dala ko at started to go to his room upstairs.



I was going to open the door in his room when I heard a small cry inside.



I shock to see him hugging someone else on the terrace with only a piece of their clothes.



"Na...Nathan?" I was stammering to call his name.



He just looked at me with his cold eyes. Gaya ng una kami magkakilala.



My heartbeat was getting louder, and I couldn't even breathe.



It got much worse when the girl he hugged looked in my direction.



"Alex...Nathan? Why?"



"I thought I love you more than I love her. But, realize that I can't move on from here; that's why I used you to forget her."



He just said that coldly like he never really cared. I was still holding the door knob habang tumutulo na ang luha ko. I can barely breathe, and my hands are shaking.



"Leave, Ry. I don't love you at all."



Nakita ko pang ngumiti si Alexandra bago ko binitiwan ang door knob at tumakbo pababa ng hagdan. I run as fast as I can while I was holding my breath crying myself and begging na make this all a dream. That It did'nt happened at all.



Nakarating ako sa sasakyan ko ng umiiyak pa rin. I was holding the steering wheel and cried my heart out. And was praying na sana di ito totoo na this was just a dream and I needed to wake up.



After I had cried and composed myself again, someone called an Unknown number. I answered it.



I heard something that could kill me emotionally because I just heard them having sensual sex.



I ended the call and drive myself pauwi kahit na di ko na alam kung anong gagawin ko. Nanginginig na nagdrive ako paalis sa lugar na yon. I don't know where should I go. Patuloy rin lang ang pagtulo ng luha ko na halos hindi ko na makita ang daan.



Nakiayon rin ang langit dahil bigla rin bumagsak ang ulan. I stop sa isang kanto malapit sa 7/11 and cried and cried.



I was about to drive again when I saw the light coming in my direction. Pagewang-gewang ang sasakyan and everyhing went black.



END OF FLASHBACK



I was catching my breath when I woke up. I was in my brother's car kasi pupunta kami sa event na inihanda sakin na totoo kong parents.



"You okay?" "Still dreaming about it?" sabay na tanong sakin ni kuya habang nakafocus pa rin sa pagdadrive.



"Just nightmares, Kuya." I still consider him my brother kahit na I already have my parents.



Nakarating kami sa hotel kung saan gaganapin ang event. This was a casual event na only limited people ang invited especially those business partners nila Mama at Papa.



"Oh my Darling, Ry's here," Mom called dad when she saw me.



"Thanks, Ryan, for driving her here." my dad ng lumabas siya galing sa isang room. Andito kami sa isang lounge room malapit sa event hall.



Nadaanan rin namin kanina ang hall at marami na rin ang mga bisita.



"Are you ready, Anak?" Dad asks.



"Yes, Dad..."



I was always ready for everything...even if I'll see them again...I wanted them to see the new me.



Because Rylee Sanchez is already dead, and I am now Katelyn Smith.
