It was 10:36 in the morning and Darcie was off to the police station. She felt quite groggy from the day before, but she was picking up Diego so she didn't mind. The girl knew that if she didn't he would most likely make a run for it, not seeing her for another 10 years. She couldn't isolate herself again, seen as how it turned out last time. At the moment she just cared about spending as much time as possible with her family.

The girl didn't have a car so she got there by foot, she approached the door and was met with the front desk. "Darcie Hargreeves, I'm here to pick up Diego Hargreeves. He was brought here last night." Darcie told the woman sat at the desk. The woman gave her a look up and down before allowing her to go through. The girl entered a room full of lots of other desks and frustrated detectives, hands placed on their temples, hastily sipping at their coffees.

She quickly spotted detective Patch's desk and headed over. The busy woman looked up from her mountain of files.

"I'm guessing you're here for Diego?" The lady cop assumed. Darcie nonchalantly nodded her head. "Alright, I'll call someone to come get him." She picked up a walkie talkie before speaking into it. "Can I get Diego Hargreeves to my desk. Thank you."

The detective signaled for the girl to sit down on a chair not far from her desk, she did so. The foolish man in spandex appeared from behind, a man behind uncuffed him. "Thanks, Rodriguez."

The boy made eye contact with Darcie. She gave him an unimpressed look, making him wink before sitting down beside her.

"So. Did you talk to the tow truck guy?" He asked the lady cop, snatching a folder off of her desk.

"Shut up and listen carefully." Patch began, stopping Diego from continuing his words. "The next time you interfere in one of my investigations, you so much as breathe on one of my witnesses, or touch a piece of evidence. I'll charge you with obstruction of justice, you will do jail time." She remarked. "That clear?"

The man scoffed. "Damn. You need to relax, Eudora. All this bureaucracy is get-" He was interrupted. "Don't call me that." Patch bossed.

"Look, I know you. You like playing by the rules, but you live for putting the scumbags away. So why don't you put that badge down for one night and you come out on the streets with me and Darcie? Without all this bullshit. You two seemed to have fun last night, it could be like that." Diego sighed.

Darcie's attention was caught by the mention of her name. It felt unusual for Diego to suggest that Patch go with him and her. Especially since they had only just reunited the day before. Before she could ponder anymore Eudora began to speak.

"You're right, that sounds super fun. But I think you missed some things when you got yourself thrown out of the police academy, so let me explain."

Darcie glanced at the boy, he looked down and smirked at the woman before him. "This bullshit is what gets convicts in a court of law. What you do out there is a fantasy. I would love to play cops and robbers, wear a mask, and feel important, but guess what? Recess is over. It's grown-up time. You're still trying to prove that, when you were kids, running around in those stupid uniforms, that wasn't for nothing. Yeah.. I know you too Diego. Now leave, before I change my mind."

Darcie's mouth was hung open slightly, but quickly closed it, realizing she looked like an idiot. She could tell Diego was hurting, even though he wasn't showing it. He got up, attempting to add a word. The detective put her palm in front of him, he gave up and turned to Darcie, hinting that they should leave. He slowly walked past, waiting for her. The girl stood up and sighed.

"Don't be such an uptight bitch, like jesus christ, he was tryna help. He only wants to do good. By  mocking him, it makes you seem like more of a child than he ever was. Mocking and putting down others is a pretty high school thing to do, Eudora. So to that I say, fuck off, you petty motherfucker." The words flew from Darcie's mouth before swiveling the other way. The detective gawped at the girl behind her. Darcie patted Diego's shoulder who, didn't know if he should smirk or be scared of the girl. They both left the station without saying another word.

When they were outside of the station Diego turned the girl towards him. Her eyebrows were furrowed and her cheeks, a slight pink colour. She tried to keep walking but his arm grounded her before him. "Hey. You ok?"

The girl sighed. "Yeah." He looked into her eyes in an attempt to find any hint of doubt. "I just didn't like her massive superiority complex." She explained.

The boy snickered slightly. "She can be like that, but I didn't think it would tick you off that much."

"Hmm." Darcie replied. She began to look down, fascinated by the floor. The girl still felt Diego's gaze laying on her. Her chin was lightly tilted up by a hand before being pulled in by a kiss. It was quick but enough to give the girl a shock. After pulling away, the two looked awkwardly at each other. "I need to get back to work." The boy before her uttered.

"Yeah, yeah, of course."

He patted her shoulder and rushed off, looking back once at the girl. Darcie gave him a tight smile to assure him she would be ok.
