A/N: Hello lovelies! First of all, I'm SO sorry it took me a super long time to update, and if I haven't mentioned earlier, I'm terrible with promises, ehehe. Really. Also, I didn't get time to edit this one, so if there are spelling errors, please pardon them. I put 'Not a Bad Thing' as the song just 'cuz I thought it was cheesy and cute. And stuff. ;) Hope you like this one, make sure to vote and comment! xx
Also, I found this GIF but lost it and then searched day and night for it again. Yes, I was desperate for Finn in a white formal shirt.
"Together, Kassandra. In our own world."
I got up to give Finn a tight hug, and he returned it. I looked at my phone to check the time and my eyes nearly fell out.
"HOLY..." I covered my mouth to avoid cursing, and Finn looked at me, concerned.
"What's wrong, Kas?"
"It's 8:45. I may sound like I'm over-reacting, but trust me, you haven't seen my mom when I'm late home. Especially in a new country. 'Tis nasty."
Finn nodded quickly. "No, it's alright, I completely understand. Sounds reasonable. We'll head home right now."
We got up and started to leave from the woody area of Chiswick and entered the 'city' premise with the bright car lights and lit up shops. I shivered. It was getting colder, and I kept peering at Finn's face and demeanor. And other things.
He was still in his light blue uniform shirt, which looked white in the dark. Wasn't he cold? I pity him, but for his intelligence, maybe he should've brought a jacket.
"Finn, aren't you cold?"
"I'm actually used to it," Finn said with no sign of chilliness. "and London's been worse, I guess. So, this isn't the worst."
I nodded and we kept walking across roads and intersections (that were safer than the one taken at first) until we made it to the large mansion-like house of my grandparents. I bit my lip nervously. I didn't want to deal with my mom when she has full steam.
I walked slowly to the door and hesitated before ringing the doorbell. As if my mom had been watching me the whole time, the door flew open right when I lifted my finger from the doorbell. She looked as if she'd been mauled. Strands of hair were flying everywhere, as if she'd been pulling her hair out, and her eyes were red with worry.
"FINALLY, IT'S ABOUT TIME YOU CAME HOME! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, KASSANDRA GLORIA EDENBROOK, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!"
I bit my lip. This wasn't good. But I expected it. "Mom, I'm sorry, I didn't know--"
"Didn't know?! It's 8:45!! How could you NOT CHECK YOUR PHONE WHEN I CALLED YOU SEVERAL TIMES CONSECUTIVELY?!"
I frowned. I'm sure my mom didn't call me. I checked my phone to find six missed calls and even one text from her. Oh.
"Oh...mom, I really am sorry, I'm safe, don't worry! Finn's here, see?"
"I don't care, Kassandra!" My mom brushed the loose strands of her hair to the back of her head and continued scolding me. "You could've gotten lost for all I know. It's only your first day and you already give me a scare!"
I blushed. I felt quite embarrassed about the fact that she was scolding me right in front of Finn, giving him a terrible impression of me. I looked at Finn, who was purposely trying to avoid eye contact. I guess he didn't want to share the embarrassment. My mom's eyes softened. She sighed and embraced me into a hug, her hand resting on my head. "I just want my baby to be safe..."
