Finn and I started walking over to the P.E. fields. I looked around. There were many clusters of people, and it was difficult to tell which group we were walking over to.
I saw one group of boys and girls who had that 'look.' You know, that look where you don't know if they're gonna bite you or send you a bouquet of flowers. I gulped.
Luckily, Finn kept walking. More and more people passed by, and slowly we reached a very grassy area. It was so deeply covered in green that it was as if it hadn't been cut in months. A large tree loomed over the spot, similar to Finn's getaway spot from yesterday.
Under the tree were five others who sat in a circle, conversing lightly about something. My heart fluttered instantly. I can't lie, they looked like the ideal friends circle. They didn't seem obnoxious, but they didn't seem too quiet. They had the look of intelligence and lightheartedness. It was perfect.
I scanned the circle. There was a girl plucking grass gently out of the earth and stroking it tenderly. She had big blue eyes and soft, gorgeous ombre hair that rested on her back and shoulders. I'm jealous of her already. Another girl sat next to her with black hair and looked Asian. She had eyeliner on, but not too much like Virginia. It suited her. She was picking at her nails, humming a tune. The rest were guys, consisting of a brunette who looked similar to the blue-eyed girl, another tall guy with blue eyes and dark brown hair in a quiff, and another guy with blue eyes and dirty blond hair.
Now's the biggest test-seeing if they like me or not.
"Hey guys," Finn called over to them. They all lifted their heads.
"Hey Finny," they replied back with smiles.
"Who's the girl?" The tall one asked. I pulled my collar nervously and looked away. I'm not ready for this.
"This is Kassandra," Finn replied. "She's new and from the U.S. and could use some friends. So, if you could make her feel welcome..."
The ombre girl got up and walked over to me and smiled.
"Zoe. Lovely to meet you, Kassandra." She stuck her hand out and I shook it, giving her a small smile.
"Nice to meet you, Zoe."
"Ooooh, I love your accent!"
I beamed. "Really? 'Cuz I always wanted to have a British accent. They're the coolest things ever."
She giggled, and it resembled a giggle that might've come from a little chick or something. "I think we're going to be good friends."
I smiled and looked over at the rest of the group, who were now getting up to introduce themselves.
The dirty blond haired guy got up over to me first, giving me a friendly smile.
"My name's Caspar. It's nice to meet you, Kassandra. Ya got a nickname?"
"Kas. You can call me Kas."
He grinned and brushed a hand through his hair.
"Kas. That's cute."
I blushed. "Thank you."
"Alright. So, if you wanna learn about me, the first thing you should know is that I'm not British."
