Solitude where we are least alone

Part five: Neglect

"Where were you last night?" Armin inquired.  "I woke up and checked your room to make sure you went to bed properly, but you were missing.  I was only checking since you seemed focused on something yesterday evening."

"It was nothing, Armin." Eren lied "I was taking a massive shit."  Eren snickered and that made Armin smile.  They then both bursted out laughing making Armin forget what he was asking about. Eren felt real sly.

"Anyway, I'll see you at training later."

"See ya!"

30 minutes later

While Armin had proven quite easy to shake off his trail, Mikasa was persistent.  She had been inquiring since before Armin and would not take no for an answer.  Also, unlike Armin, Mikasa did not know how to laugh.

"Just leave me alone." Eren said while Mikasa followed him around, continuing her interrogation. Eren stopped and went into the room to his left.  Mikasa followed.
"Mikasa!" Eren squealed. "This is the damn bathroom!  What the hell?  Are you gonna listen to see if I start talking about it while pissing?"

"What's wrong?" Mikasa asked looking puzzled. "I have seen your penis before, Eren.  Why does it matter?"
"WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU BRING THAT UP?  It was one time!  Sure I accidentally walked in to the womens bath naked a few years ago while you and mom were in, but it was a pure chance!  It wasn't even fair! You had a baiting suit on!"  Eren mumbled the last part.

Mikasa heard this though. "If you got attacked at nine and almost sold as a sex slave, you would be nervous too." Mikasa shot back.

Eren was too busy being embarrassed at the memory to hear what Mikasa had just said. He could not believe that Mikasa could bring this up without a shred of embarrassment.  "Anyway, I need some privacy."

"Fine" Mikasa huffed.

Eren watched as Mikasa walked away and immediately left the bathroom to head to the stable.  He saddled his horse and set off to the main gate to exit the base.

"Where are you headed?" Asked Connie, who was on guard duty even though Eren was pretty sure that he would let anybody in who said that they worked here.

"Just going to do some shopping.  I'll be back tonight."  Eren answered

"Can you bring me some sweets back from the bakery?" Connie asked.

"Yeah"

"Cool! Thanks Eren!" Connie chimed in an excited manner.

And just like that, Eren had managed to slip away to see Annie again.

A/N: sorry for the short chapter but I'm busy today.  I hope me releasing two yesterday made up for that.  I'll probably write two times a day this weekend so I hope that also makes it up.  Also, we are top 150 in AOTfanfiction and that is just awesome.  I love everyone who reads this garbage.  Thank you so much ❤️
