Chapter eighteen: The Transfer

A/N:  Some of you guys might remember this character from the Trost arc of season one.  I feel she does not get nearly enough love so I'm gonna bring her into this story as one of the mid game main supporting characters.

Levi did not trust many people.  He had been stabbed in the back dozens of times.  Everyone he trusted was dead.  Accept for one person.  Rico Brzenska.  She was a very powerful soldier from the Garrison Regiment.  Just like Levi, she had experienced the loss of her whole squad protecting Eren.  Levi found himself trusting and even respecting the young woman.  She had recently been promoted to Sargent by commander Pyxis, however as she began talking to Levi, she grew dissatisfied with the cowardice of the Garrison regiment.  It was the largest Regiment, consisting of 30,000 soldiers.  The only reason for this was because it was the second safest job behind the MP.  Although Dot Pyxis was a very smart man, his men who served under him were inexperienced cowards.  This was what eventually led to Rico's request for transfer into the Scouts.  Pyxis, who was perhaps one of Erwins greatest allies and friends, understood how Rico felt and put it through himself.

Current day (sorry for the exposition)

Rico showed up in a chariot to scout HQ riding with Captain Levi.  They respected each other and often confronted one another with problems.  As Rico walked through the entrance, she noticed Armin was on guard duty.  He had grown taller and handsomer as well as stronger since The Struggle For Trost.  She nodded and he nodded back.  They arrived in a dorm to find the new Levi Squad cleaning.  They were far inferior to the original Levi Squad.  Just a bunch of kids from the 104th training corps. 

"This is Sergeant  Rico Brzenska, she is transferring from the Garrison special force to my squad.  She will be my new second in command and the only word above hers is mine."  Levi stated.

"I look forward to working with you all." Rico said before falling into a salute, devoting her heart.  The rest of the scouts besides Levi followed suit.  She spotted the Jeager boy in the group.  That's the same brat who I met in Trost?  He looks so stoic and reserved now.  He's kind of hot.  She thought to herself.  She was never embarrassed to give credit where credit was due.  She started on a bad note with him, however she realized that the boy had changed and she had nothing against him now.

"It's good to see you Lt. Brzenska." Eren said with a smile.  "I am grateful for the sacrifice you made for me and I regret never visiting you to thank you before now."

Rico smiled.  He has matured. She thought "Just call me Rico, Eren.  You seem to have grown into a fine soldier."

"Thank you."  Eren said, respecting the veteran soldier who had been serving for 5 years now; since she was 15. 

Levi showed her out, leading her to her new dorm. "This is yours for now.  You get it to yourself but don't get too cozy because as soon as a new batch of recruits come in, your sharing with them."  He said, smirking.

"Copy that." Rico said jokingly.  As annoying as the recruits were, she knew what it was like.  She also had a head full of fantasies of dying like a martyr when she was a recruit.  Becoming a hero who's sacrifice pushed others to do great things in her name.  Now she learned that dying is easy.  Living is harder.  The dead; they paid their debts.  it's up to the living to pick up the tab.  She knew this better than anyone besides Levi.  She was devastated over the loss of her squad.  She couldn't imagine how it would feel to loose your future fiancé.

Well, might as well get some sleep.  It's gonna be a long day tomorrow. Rico thought to herself before closing her eyes and falling asleep.

Sorry about two filler chapters today but I wanted to get Rico into this story so this was a chapter dedicated to introducing her.  She will probably be a prominent character until she dies or the story ends.  I don't know what I'll do with her yet but she is a very underrated character in my opinion.
