We were all on the couch, watching Tangled, and eating popcorn after a meal from room service. Ross’s arm was around my shoulders again, as we all sat in our pajamas. I was wearing Ross’s extra pajamas because I didn’t have anything on me but some money, my phone, and my bag. His pajamas were too big for me—he’s a foot taller than me, what do you expect? But still, the T-shirt and boy pajama pants were super comfy.

We laughed so much that no one wanted to go to bed when the movie ended.

“Lights out!” Mr. Lynch said, taking the remote and closing the TV. “Uh, let’s see, where are we going to put you, Amanda?” He asked himself. Rydel, Stormie, Mr. Lynch and Ryland slept in this room, and Riker, Rocky, Ross and Ratliff slept in the room next door. “Allright, how about you sleep with us tonight?”

“Great! Thanks again, so much, I really appreciate it Mr. Lynch!” I replied.

“Please, call me Mark.” He insisted.

They were so nice.

That night, I slept next to Rydel. I felt so warm in Ross’s pajamas, even though it was just a simple T-shirt and pajama pants. Rydel, Mark, and Stormie quickly fell asleep and I listened to their light snores.

Click.

What was that?

I looked over at the door and saw it opening. The light from the hallway outside our room started flowing in, but was quickly replaced by a shadow.

“Psst” I recognized Ross’s voice.

“Ross?” I had to ask to be sure.

“Yea.”

“What is it?”

“I couldn’t fall asleep.”

I got out of bed and quietly walked towards him. “Why?”

“I don’t know…I’ve just been thinking. A lot.”

“Is it something you’d like to talk about?”

He hesitated. “Uh, maybe not now. But I just wanted to let you know that…”

“That what?”

“That…um…never mind.”

We stared at each other in the darkness.

“You sure?” I took his hands and held him by his fingers.

“I guess…I guess I’m not ready to tell you yet. Um…g’night.”

I tippy-toed and kissed him on the cheek. “G’night.” I couldn’t see it, but I could tell he smiled at me in the darkness.
