Chapter 15

Today's Ryas dads funeral.

I help her get ready by straightening her hair and applying her light makeup.

We leave with Harry Louis Zayn and Niall all in one car. The car ride is silent and sad.

Once we reach the grave site we all hop out and walk over to the spot where Ryas fathers body lays in an casket surrounded by flowers. Only three other people are there. Ryas grandmother, Ryas cousin, and Ryas uncle. I say hello to each of them and place a rose on the casket.

After the service the body is lowered in the ground and Rya looses it and runs off to the car. We all leave her to go and walk back slowly.

Once we reach the car we all try to calm her down and convince her to get some food.

We head to louis and nialls place where they order pizza and wings. Everyone smokes a cigarette except me and Harry. I thought about having one but I take a swig of vodka instead.

Afterwards me and Harry decide to go and he walks me to my room. "Wow today was something" he says leaning against my door. "Ya" I say and look at him "how'd I get so lucky to have someone like you" he asks and I almost answer "I love you" but I stop myself. "I was just about to ask you the same thing" I say and kiss him.

"Goodnight Mari" he says kissing my hand "goodnight harry" I say walking in my room.

When I wake up the next morning I grab my school supplies and head to English. They announce Ryas fathers death on the announcements and I'm thankful she didn't come to class today.

After class I walk with Harry to the homecoming table to get 2 tickets. Afterwards we walk to my room and Rya is drunk on her bed. "Rya?" I ask her "what" she slurs "you need to get up, this isn't healthy" I tell her while Harry uses the washroom "neither is having to deal with two deaths in five years but somehow it happened" she barks back.

I ignore her and start studying my science. Harry comes back out and kisses me before heading to his dorm.

"Hey I'm gonna go to the cafeteria and get something to eat wanna come?" I ask Rya around 5 PM "no thanks" she replies so I just leave.

When I come back I leave a burrito beside her bed and hug her. She smiles and I hope that's a start.

The next morning she finally decides to at least get up and I hug her for that because she's stronger than any person I know.

In class all everyone's talking about is the homecoming football game which sounds really exciting.

Harry and I walk to his room after school and I get a call from Kyle while me and Harry are on his bed. "Kyle?!" I practically scream into the phone "hey Mari it's so nice to talk to you! School is a living hell without you" "I miss you too! I wish I could see you and Mikenna again" "actually that's what I'm calling you about" Harry starts giving me looks "Mikennas mom bought you a plane ticket to come home for Halloween! So we can have our annual scary movieathon!" Kyle screams into the phone. "That's awesome! I can't wait! Tell Mikenna and her mom thanks!" I tell him and hang up.

"Who's Kyle?" Harry asks "my bestfriend from back home" I answer smoothly "oh, what does he want" I can tell he's jealous "My friends mom bought me a plane ticket back home for Halloween!" I tell him "are you gonna go?" He asks "YA I haven't seen my friends for a month now!" I tell him noticing his face turning frustrated "I would tell you to come but I think it's too soon we've only been dating 2 weeks" I say and he gets even more mad.
