EIGHT: FIRST-YEARS

━━━━━━━       ━━

A dark blue colour was what shadowed the skies on the weekends' morning. It was still relatively cold since the winter breeze hadn't drifted off to the west yet. The courses the wind took, gave a light greeting to the fellow verdant evergreens. Falling leaves of the once lush life trees landed on the rough stone flooring, a crisp sound it made as it touched the cold stone. The sickeningly sweet scent was like strands of threads swaying through the streets. A withering flower was cripping its dear life on the ledge of a window, the dried petals curved its way to the bloody middle, protecting itself from the chilly morning.

January came by fairly quickly in Tsuki's opinion. Waking awfully early in the morning, she was reminded of her weekly visits starting today. Taking a peek out the window, the early morn still had that deep blue hue from late evenings. Guessing it was around three to four in the morning, she was correct. It was 3:24, sighing as she had hours before leaving the house. As much as she would love to pick up a nice book, she started the lengthy hours with the tedious task—reading 'The Intelligent Investor' by Benjamin Graham.

Closing the book with a yawn, hours had passed since the opening of contents. Lifting her head up from the tome, the sun had already emerged from the tenebrous night. The soft white tinted the blue, puff clouds shaded with a light tone of garden pink overcast the golden gleam. People don't admire the marshmallows from the skies enough, it was always the moons and stars they spoke. Being named by the meaning of moon, she adored the silver-glowing planet, but alas, hated the name. The word portrayed her well, too well. She didn't like how a word could describe her with perfection, she felt... exposed. It's like being in a love-hate relationship, a word well too fit for her, a word well too knows of her.

After changing out of her sleep wear, she decided on wearing more lean towards the sporty side. You know the one, 'going out for a jog but ends up walking for the most part' kinda outfit. Picking out a pair of blue joggers while matching it with white t-shirt, she took her bag and made her way to the bullet train.

You see, Tsuki isn't the athletic type. Yes, she does like certain types of sports, per say, cycling. But ones that involve long stamina, she doesn't like it. Never would she choose to do sports activities by will, though if she had to, she would. Tsuki sighed at the thought of doing consistent training, exhausting it sounded. Leaning her head on the soft material, flashes of the busy city were quick to be replaced by the wide green field. A nice day out did it seem. The sun wasn't hot enough to scorch her skin off, the wind wasn't strong enough to put off her stability, and yet it was also a cloudy day. Not the days with the grey, overshadowing clouds, but the nice quiet days with bright, white ones.

Oh how much did Tsuki wanted to stare at this view for eternity, the slow moving pillows were just enjoying their days in the sky. They look so free—bumping into each other while having the yellow star sunkiss the soft white. They are so frequently seen that people tend to overlook these cotton candies. She wanted to be one of them, she wanted to be in the soft laughing crowds. She didn't want to be the moon, how lonely the glowing grey seemed.

Taking off at her stop, she was told to meet Zenin Maki at the station. For some odd reason, she was craving for some turkish delights. Those rosy powdered treats sounded nice after the long ride, maybe the eyeful sight did lay an affect on her. Looking through the packed crowds, she finds her way out to the right exit, where she spots a green-haired student, suited in the same type of dark purple clothing. "Takahashi Tsuki was it?" eyed the ponytail girl as she approached her.

"Yep. Tsuki is just fine, I'm not used to formalities and such," Tsuki answered politely.

"Well then, I suppose you don't mind me calling you Tsuki-san? Since you are a year older than me and all," questioned who is suspected to be Zenin Maki.

"Yeah that's fine, you are Zenin Maki I suppose?"

"Yep, the blindfold told me to pick you off at the station."

"Well, nice to meet you... Maki-kun?" greeted Tsuki.

"Glad to see someone finally getting my institutions."

During their walk to the hills, the small talks made pretty clear of Maki's personality. One, she is quite the blunt one, sensing from the quick and straightforward answers, she doesn't seem the type to be all that patient. Two, the strong aura of leadership she emits, tells Tsuki that she would not go easy on her during training. Three, she is quite cool. I mean being all that fit, she prefers junk food over salads. Tsuki could come around being comfortable with the Zenin, but it might most be restful silence since both aren't ones to start a conversation.

Walking through the tall bare trees, a familiar aroma was discerned along the prolonged path. As they neared the school location, Maki questioned whether Tsuki needed her guide for the following week, a 'no' was received as a response. Through the entrance and in the school, they headed towards the wide green field.

Three standing figures were seen sitting on the stone gray staircase, two being familiar to the eye. "Oi Satoru, I got the student," Maki said as she stood behind the boys.

"Oh, nice job~" Gojo complimented the greenette, "Didja have fun?"

"Ha? Fun?" Maki responded in a harsher tone.

"Well, both of you have similar personalities," Gojo stated, "but one's worser than the other," muttering the last sentence.

"Oi! I heard you!"

"Anyways! Me and Toge are gonna head to the stores since we're low on groceries, don't wanna have veggies for lunch now do we Maki~" teased Gojo.

"You son of a..." Maki resisted the urge to curse her supposedly sensei.

"You and Panda can go do some training with Tsuki."

During their lil chit-chat, Tsuki was greeted with small waves from the panda and a violet-eyed boy. Returning the gesture, she took notice that the same panda she bumped into was here in front of her. She swore she heard the white-haired saying 'kelp' but didn't want to start assuming things.

"Well, me and Toge will be off, see ya in a bit~" Gojo said as Toge waved goodbye.

As the two left, Maki turned her head to face Tsuki.

"Now that the trolls are gone... Wanna start with some basics?" asked Maki.

"Uh... Sure but uh..." as the brunette's eyes drifted off to the panda standing nearby.

"Oh. That's Panda by the way. He's a cursed corpse." answered Maki.

"Hi," Panda said plainly.

"Uh yeah, hey." Tsuki replied awkwardly.

"Ok! Enough of this awkwardness, we're gonna get along!" Maki voiced.

"Sure..." the other two deadpanned.
