FOURTEEN: PRETTY SEASON

━━━━━━━      ━━

She woke up to the pain of sweat.

The visible drop slid through the lengths of her arm as she stared in horror of the coldness in the room. Her hair was messily tangled on the so ever dragging pillow, pulling herself away from the choking hazard, scrawny nails touched the walls for it felt enclosed. Was it all white and sweat she saw? But oh for that is not true as the room was kept pitch dark.

"Oh what a boring movie," a groan was followed by the voice,

"Shut up. You just don't understand the scenes." a sense of mockery was hinted from the short one.

"What do you mean 'you don't understand', of course I do!"

While the ridicule behaviour of voice imitating continued, a disinterested brown-hair exited the room for a refill of beverage. It was currently four in the morning for the students asleep, a trio decided to spend the night binging free movies on the net, well, only one suggested.

" 'We could sleep on the plane' he said," the tone of a high pitched little girl was used.

An annoyed expression was plastered on Tsuki's face as she poured herself a glass of water, never did she want to join this 'movie night,' and so did the other blond. But how the change of events when the two started comparing 'who has the better taste.'

'How childish,' Tsuki thought.

Bickering of the loud yelling boys was heard from the other room, she stared at the wall that divided the floorspace. That impassive face of hers held a twitching brow, the brunette's attempt on getting some peace and quiet—was a fail.

━━

While the hours passed till noon, not a wink of sleep did Tsuki get. It wasn't as if it was pure torture for her, since she does experience this every now and then. It was, however, the other two that did, in fact, sleep. Unfortunate is it for the young girl, that they bidded their friend goodnight after she had her cup of morning caffeine. Oh sweet sweet four hours did they sleep as the girl just glared at the snoring figures.

Now stepping foot in the freshly scented stores, Tsuki glanced at the sweets on display. A variety did the store have, the packaged food had from savoury to sweet, traditional to new and snacks to meals. How intriguing it is, that the store was filled with this honey scented air—sakura trees.

This petal and pink theme decorated the street store, danglings of their long gold chains contrasted the rosy red. Blushes of petals were piled under the wrapped gifts. The cutely cased treats were baby pandas holding little cherry blossoms, the glass case revealed vibrant purple tarts. 'Beniimo tarts* are what they call it here,' Tsuki gazed at the smooth filled sweet potatoes, the zaggied pattern was piped on top of a buttered hard shell, the rich mauve held its structure with its thick condensity. Oh Tsuki could already imagine Gojo fawning over the enticing tea.

The jacketed girl took her phone out, checking for the list that was sent to her days before. The purple suited sent her a long message, typed out all the possible sweets he had wished to eat. Scrolling down the catalogue, there spot 'Beniimo tarts'. Swiftly pocketing her phone while placing the memento in her cart, off to another sweet treat here she goes.

━━

Waves of people walking crammed the narrow road. Students of Nekoma filled the expansive atmosphere with their blaring chatter, gleefulness in their eyes reflecting glass windows. Bags of presents Tsuki gripped as she wandered with the well rested two.

"Hey guys, do y'all wanna head to the park nearby?" questioned the hazel-eyed.

"Hm? Why's that?" the libero asked.

"Oh nothing. It's just— it's so damn crowded over here."

Tsuki roughly glimpsed the souvenirs she bought, "Yeah sure, I think I'm done with shopping."

"Alright, lemme buy some food so we can have a picnic of some sort."

Rough stone stairs met plain tatty sneakers as the three second years walked through the polished pathment. White fence gates blocked the picking of flowers, oh the fully blossomed trees were so frail and dainty indeed. Lanky branches of theirs bloomed light pink florets, complementing the shaded sky that was tinted with pink and blue. Being early in the season of the blooming, the local favoured park wasn't crowded with tourists. The trio ambled their way to the nearby river, finding a spot on the grassy land.

"Ah, The trip is almost over."

Comfort silence engulfed between the three as a brisk breeze gently swayed above the glinted water. The verdant green they sat was tonic to the touch. Falling petals of the brittle limb lightly touched the glassy loch. Such a nice weather March is.

"Ne, what do you guys wanna do after high school," Kuroo queried quietly while chumbling his store bought onigiri.

"Maybe something volleyball related, I don't know," Yakkun pondered silently.

"My parents want me to be a business woman..." Tsuki's mind drifted towards her options of jobs. "... But I honestly don't know."

"Well, just do what you want," Kuroo side-glanced at her, "I bet you'd enjoy your job more if it's something you want to do."

'Just do what I want...' those heartfelt words ran through the little mind of Tsuki's, 'I wish life was that easy.'
