The whole night I had not slept. I hadn't slept for a second and now I knew what it was like to be Morgana. I had spent my night trying to find out who this Morgause woman was but had come up empty-handed. I was left none the wiser. But as I was getting ready in the morning, something she said came back to my head.
"Brush up on your fighting before tomorrow in case your brother needs assistance."
Why would my brother need assistance in his fighting against her? Nonetheless, I decided to take a few precautions. As my mind had decided it didn't need sleep, I did practise my fighting like Morgause had told me to.
A/N Just ignore the hair and bird in this picture. I couldn't get rid of them without removing half the picture.
As I got ready, I made sure my hair was tied up so it was out of the way and I got changed into something a little more practical. I knew my father would have something to say about it, but when there was a chance Arthur was going to need my help, I wasn't taking any risks. So I slid a dagger into my boot just in case I needed it.
When I walked to my space in the stands, I could hear people murmuring and I had a feeling I knew why. But I ignored them and went to stand by Morgana.
"Nice outfit," Morgana muttered to me, a small smirk on her face. "Uther's gonna love it."
"I'm sure he will," I replied sarcastically.
Basically as soon as I said that, father walked into his place beside me. For a moment I thought he hadn't noticed my outfit choice but as the drums started to bang around the arena, he turned to me.
"What in the devil are you wearing?" father hissed.
"Clothes," I replied bluntly.
"It's absolutely despicable. You should not be wearing things like that. No woman should," father insisted.
"I'm so glad you approve," I said sarcastically, sending him a bitter smile.
"As soon as this is over you will change," father said, turning back to face the arena as an applause arose and Arthur walked into the arena.
I didn't attempt to satisfy my father with a response as I started cheering for Arthur instead. Morgause, who I hadn't previously noticed, was already standing in the centre, waiting silently.
Father then rose to his feet to do his usual dualling speech.
"The fight is by the Knights' rules and to the death," father said, and I couldn't help but notice how nervous Arthur looked.
Arthur walked straight over to Morgause and whispered something in her ear to which she responded with a glare. Clearly that had not gone to plan as Arthur sighed and put on his helmet. They both got into their positions to begin the fight and they both raised their swords.
